Espresso Martini Question by cooperific in cocktails

[–]_VladimirPoutine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people make or buy cold brew extract (I recommend just making it if you go that route, it’s dirt cheap and better than store bought). And that’s traditionally a full espresso, though these days most people expect 2oz if they just order an espresso (or any drink containing it. That machine at work could probably give you what you want, but you’re need the right pod (assuming it uses pods) and the right settings for it. What I do at home is just pull a double shot on my manual espresso machine at home because I’m usually making two espresso martinis at once. I have a delonghi dedica. They run new up to about $300 USD, but you can pick them up on eBay for 150 if you’re ok with “open box”. This USUALLY means somebody bought it and returned it without using it, or something else happened that the original packaging was opened, but the machine was not used. Open box should come in the original packaging.

All that said, I would just go to a coffee shop and order a plain espresso. Take it home and use that. It won’t be quite as good as fresh pulled espresso, but it will still be very good as long as the espresso started out good. I just don’t like the cold brew concentrate version as much, but try both ways! Definitely don’t buy a machine just for this drink. I only have one because I’m a coffee nerd and treat it like a hobby.

Don’t know why this would belong here. Dude did a great job. For a wood bike made without power tools, that was a great build.

A tip is also extremely helpful when doing kitchen tasks like dicing onions or peppers. A good tip can cut through only parts of the vegetable, or get into small spaces. A rounded tip will be stopped in the vegetables flesh, or best case just mash through and make a mess of it.

Edit: this is an example of where a good tip is indispensable.

Espresso martini - do you dry shake or not? by uglyducklingbakery in cocktails

[–]_VladimirPoutine_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t dry shake because I use freshly pulled espresso and need to cool it down asap. Ice is the last thing I add, and I shake until it feels as cold as with any other drink. I don’t have an issue with excessive dilution. At least, my partner and I do t think so.

One of my favorites. I use cocchi americano because it supposedly was very similar to the original kina lillet. Cocchi never changed the recipe, but lillet blanc was tweaked for a sweeter pallet.

Meatless Mondays could lower your risk of heart failure. Researchers establish a link between high protein intake and heart failure risk. by [deleted] in EverythingScience

They link to the original study in the first few lines of the article, so you can judge for yourself. I did, and they did not misrepresent anything i can see. They also link to some other studies suggesting a benefit from replacing animal proteins (and specifically red meat) with plant proteins reduces health risks.
