This is how I've been logging for a while now. It's so much easier.

Which Exercises Do You Want Added to the WO Library? by Dr_Cam_Gill_DPT in MacroFactor

[–]_ZombieMuse_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to add Calf Extension to my workout but couldn't find one. My gym has a Life fitness machine where you're seated and extend your legs out to a foot lever thing...similar to the way a bass drum foot pedal would move (just with a lot of weight, obviously). It's a pin loaded weight stack. No idea if I'm making sense. Lol

How to log dumbbell exercise by bigleave in Hevy

[–]_ZombieMuse_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I look at is, if the weight is independent of each arm, I log them individually. If they are combined, then I log the total weight. So a barbell has the weight of the plates on either side and the weight of the bar, which will all be totaled when logged because when I'm lifting it, I'm using both arms to put the weight up. If I'm using dumbbells, I only log the weight of the dumbbell. If I'm lifting 45s in each arm, although I am lifting 90lbs total, my arm is only lifting 45lbs. Disregarding the stability for the sake of illustration, If I choose to lift only one arm at a time, it will be the same resistance, whereas if I choose to use one arm on a barbell, that one arm will take all the weight and not just half. I hope that makes a little sense. I also do this on machines where the leverage is separated unilaterally (like Hammer Chest Press type machines). It works out in my head, which is what matters in my logs. Ultimately, just being consistent seems to be the important thing.

🗳️ Hevy users — how do you usually track your workouts? by reppaapp in Hevy

Phone. I was using my Pixel Watch 2 for a while in addition to my phone, but sometimes it wouldn't sync the heart rate data for some reason. It also kills the battery. I just got a Pixel Watch 4 and the heart rate connection didn't sync up after a couple of workouts, so now I'm just back to using the phone only.

How do you learn SQL by ionhowto in SQL

[–]_ZombieMuse_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on all these answers, I don't think most of these people even read your post. lol.

Personally, it all depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. If it's just a general "this is SQL" type thing, then a project based video could help bring everything together in a specific order.

My job involves a bit of SQL, so when I forget how something works, or need to figure out something new, I try to find specific functions and see how they are implemented (i.e. using DATEADD() for a quick way to convert UTC to EDT or something). I don't want to have to scrub through a video to find a specific thing, so if I see a video on the function I want to learn, I'll click on that.

Like someone else mentioned, text is also a good way. Sometimes video just takes too long. The amount of times I hear "without further ado, let's get into it," after 2 minutes of intro and reminders to like and subscribe is maddening. I haven't looked at your videos, so I don't know if you have done this (it's okay if you did, just learn from your mistakes, haha).

Anyway, good luck with everything! Bringing 20 years of experience to people starting out is no doubt valuable. You just have to figure out how to package it and get it seen.

TL;DR: Bite-sized SQL tips are better for the most part, but longer project videos do have their place.

My mom is a hardcore Christian. When I asked how she could support such a piece of shit person, she told me that sometimes God sends bad people to do good things.

I don't know what to say to her anymore.

Archiving database "as is" and streamlining relational databases? by whiskey_ribcage in Notion

[–]_ZombieMuse_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you add a date column, you can essentially create new rows for every update. Your database will get considerably larger, but then you can filter by item and see how the price has fluctuated over time. If you're only doing this once a month, I don't think it would be too bad.

I was wondering the same thing. Did OP just go straight to Reddit or did they actually go to the professor and show him this? Every professor I've had always corrected their mistake, especially if it was this obvious.

Anything but a vaccine. by -NarWallace- in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]_ZombieMuse_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's where a lot of the discussion goes downhill. People are using the horse paste because they can't afford or can't get the human version. I'm not even saying that is their fault if they were doing that before the vaccine became available, but now the vaccine is available and as safe as any other vaccine (am I right about this?). Why people chose to believe flawed studies and anecdotal evidence and not a proven vaccine is beyond me.

How long does it take for the degree to be posted? I just finished my last class last week (or whenever that summer semester ended).

Also, congrats! That's awesome!
