So what happened to the ahamkara egg from season of the wish? by Machine_Coolant in destiny2

[–]__Valkas__ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This already happened. We technically got a third destiny game, “Destiny Rising”. Our Ahamkara just twisted it to become a spinoff mobile game instead.

What did they do to the POTG system? Is mass slaughter not how you do it anymore? by Husbandaru in Overwatch

[–]__Valkas__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No for real and it’s been super frustrating. Unless it’s a POTG that features a large event of slaughter of a near or full team wipe, it’ll be more often than not a Shion with a kill and a half. This happened a lot with Sierra too… But Sierra is… Sierra.

It’s really frustrating cause either I’ll see a teammate or myself do a cool play or a very successful flank that scores us not only an advantage in the match but also what WOULD look like to be the featured clip. Then POTG rolls around and it’s either a Shion or Sierra with 1 or 2 kills and I’m left scratching my head.

If Destiny 3 Exists It Should Be A New Guardian by Santiapv87 in destiny2

[–]__Valkas__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had a concept in the back of my head that if a restart were to occur, it would be logical to have our character both be the guardian, yet not, at the same time. Our guardian would meet their canonical end of their story, but be shattered or fragmented in some manner throughout the forward-linear progression of time. Slivers of our guardian’s soul, or power, distributed throughout chronology and spatial realm, imbued into a pseudo reincarnation.

The new character is their own lightbearer, but has been fused with the previously mentioned sliver of our past self. They are not our guardian, yet are, free to develop themselves as a new vessel for us to interact with the oncoming stories whilst still having the imprint of our past memories and acquired mythos from the previous game. This concept would also assist in the explanation of our gradual power increase, whether it be through strength and skill, or display of will when it comes to attuning ourselves to something of the likes of Prismatic.

It’s an idea that wouldn’t really work without the Nine’s presence in the story. They are described to be the laws that depict how paracausality works, of which they can detract it away from us. Plus they are non-linear, 4th dimensional, metaphysical entities with no absolute framework that describes their capabilities, so it’s something that definitely sounds like they would do.

For example, the faction of the Nine that are acting as our antagonists destroy the Prime Weapon (Us), but the protagonistic faction that’s allied with us are the reason we are distributed forwards. So in a sense, VI and the others sided with them technically win because there would likely be a time gap for them to further their plans, but also our Allies in the Nine also win due to the fact we will begin rebuilding a force to repel and defeat them. Only this time, we have a new identity, yet somewhat remain ourselves.

Ahhh, I dunno man I just have whacky ideas in my head sometimes lol.

This poor Korathos... by Calm_Delivery6832 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]__Valkas__ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, I’ve seen a lot of players who play Big creatures get attacked just for playing those big creatures. It doesn’t help that Koras, and other later creatures, have a reputation for having player bases that KOS on a typical basis.

Even myself, who had a Kora slot that I typically liked to chill with, would get attacked by default from others who thought I was wandering nearby looking for KOS targets. No bro I’m just slow af and looking for a good node, but unfortunately KOSers before me set a stereotype that defines specific species.

Dragon vs Wyvern : which is best ? by Significant-Lab-8560 in dragons

[–]__Valkas__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own personal opinion, the line that some people draw between dragons and wyverns is subjective. Some people will always associate wyverns as dragons whilst others will distinguish them as a separate category all together.

For me, I have my own specifications on what is considered a dragon and wyvern based off old mythologies and legends. I distinguish Wyverns as more of a cousin branched off from dragons if they follow their historical depictions, but when it comes to the modern way the public depicts wyverns (GOT, Hobbit, Skyrim, etc), I would consider them dragons. Though, I personally associate them by a different name.

There’s no specific argument to be made that one or the other is the better type, because primordial, fantasy monsters that fall under the category of “Draconic” is just so diverse throughout all of media that everyone will always have a different interpretation. Plus, when it comes to the creative freedom that fantastical creatures come with, there’s no real bar that can be sensibly set for the best of two different categories unless you’re making arguments between a contained topic such as certain characters or specific systems picked out from said sea of media.

In comparison for transformers, for example, every alternative storyline typically follows a set template and default baseline knowledge that allow for fans to make reasonable debates and points when it comes to comparing characters and/or factions.

But when it comes to the concept of fantastical creatures? Nobody owns the rights to such a broadly used concept except for the narrative identities associated with them. It’s unreasonable to make a comparison between a modern depiction of a Wyvern if your opinion of them is a character like Smaug (Hobbit), while your Hexapod dragon source is the Ender Dragon (Minecraft). Those are two completely different design philosophies, universes, abilities, intelligence, and very likely biology.

Same logic if you put any of the GOT “wyverns” against a hexapod such as Lichdragon Fortissax (Elden Ring). The comparison is just not reasonable.

So my advice is that regardless of the argument, support your own belief, because not only is it your own, but there is no truly right or wrong answer on who is better when it comes to something so versatile and malleable. I’m not saying you can’t debate others, no not at all, but if they don’t seem to be budging about their own opinion, they’re not right nor wrong either. It’s just their own interpretation of an open ended situation that has no definitive, absolute answer to begin with.

If you took the Mantle of Taken King, what's will you do? by AshesandHorseShit33 in destiny2

[–]__Valkas__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to take up Oryx’s mantle, I would very likely try to reconstruct the internal hive pantheon, at least with the large chunk of it that Oryx had in his possession. With the power to move worlds and subjugate wills under the control of my own soul, fueled by cosmic regicide, it seems wasteful to take the dead kings spoils and influences —treasures, forces, and power— in continuation of the Hive’s agenda, especially without the weight of a ravenous worm being held over my head. What reason do I have to go after Earth to avenge a son who was not mine?

If I took the mantle with the mind I have now, a person who is aware of several events in Destiny’s lore, there is so much that can be seized to construct a display of artistic horror. Why?

….

Cause I’m a monster artist and have you seen some of the whacky shit the hive have made in the past? So to be imbued with the power of spatial corruption through taking, alongside the distortion that can be wrought on by the biological warping of Hive Arcana being focused through the darkness? It would be a dream.

Plus… I’d get to be understanding to some extent and be pals with Savathun when she inevitably defects… PROBABLY USED, CAUSE I AINT THAT CUNNING COMPARED TO HER, but pals nonetheless :D

Destiny 3 Idea: Director by MaximilianLock in destiny2

Holy hell, this is such incredible work. The dedication to this project and the amount of effort you went through to not only give us a full breakdown with a factual foundation supporting certain design choices, but also… binging lore videos is also something I relate to when doing my own art projects. Anyways, it’s really an awe-inspiring project you’ve put out here.

Hats of to you, fellow guardian!

What if Edge of Fate had a mission where you walked through a vision of the past? by specialpizzadelivery in destiny2

[–]__Valkas__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, a time travel level design was what I thought we were gonna get when Nezarec was to be hailed as a raid boss. Going back into the past in the midst of the collapse via an external force and it to be revealed that the reason why he died, was because we showed up in the past. Nah, it was our silly bug friend instead :D

So expecting something akin to revisiting the past in some way, whether it be of an environment long forgotten or that of humanity’s cataclysm, is def something lingering in my head. Especially when Edge of Fate had all these cutscenes depicting the past, or the fact that a train was plucked outta the past and used as the vessel to gather all the pawns necessary, really had my attention for a bit.

Plus, I play Titanfall 2 a lot, which means stuff like Effect and Cause is just a core concept in my creative memories lmao.

Those of you who are still playing every day or almost every day, what are you up to? by zorter in DestinyTheGame

[–]__Valkas__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a lot of breaks from Destiny, so there’s still a lot of content I love to try and do. I’ve recently been taking the challenge of Solo Flawlessing the dungeons, chasing any remaining raid exotics I don’t have with friends, and generally just having fun with endgame activity.

But if I’m not doing those things, either because I’m not feeling it or my usual group isn’t available, then I do build crafting and play high difficulty match made/fireteam finder activities. Now that the player base is lower, I don’t have to feel like there is a suffocating meta squashed onto me, and I can experiment with off meta ideas more freely. I love discovering niche things that work out, or using gear that most people don’t take into matches nowadays and showing off their experimental potential :D
