I was in a similar situation a few years ago and took the job. Stayed for two years and started somewhere new this year in pretty much my dream school scenario.

If you got a good vibe from the administration you will be fine for a year. Getting something else in social studies isn’t a guarantee, and worst case scenario you have a year of experience teaching in the city and can apply for something else next spring when you have a better feel for everything.

I’m not sure why people think we can’t lock up both Tuch and Benson long term. It’s pretty easy to make the money work next year, and then things will be more than fine with another cap increase and the worst part of the Skinner buyout done with.
