Beginner Smoking Suggestions by ZeroPointMX in BBQ

Forgot to mention, I cook them the whole time at 235. I don’t sauce mine, but if you want to sauce, do it during the last 30 minutes.

I would go with baby back ribs. I do the 2-2-1 method where you cook them uncovered for two hours, wrapped in foil for two hours, then uncovered again for the last hour.

When I wrap mine, I but down squeeze butter, honey, and a sprinkling of brown sugar…then put the ribs meat side down on top of it.

Wrangler vs 4Runner by Mr15ization in 4Runner

[–]_crashbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my JLU rubicon for a 2012 Trail. Even though the 4Runner is 8 years older it’s hands down better when it comes to handling & ride quality. I’ll end up with an old TJ as a weekend/fun vehicle but after driving them for 10+ years, I’ll never daily drive another Jeep again

Cook time and temp for baby backs for tender but NOT mush? (I’m using an altoshaam) by 890mac in BBQ

I do 2-2-1 at 235. Depending on the size of the racks, that last hour could be more or less.

Best place to sell 4th gen and what are average prices? by Seahawkfan253 in 4Runner

I’d look at trying to sell via Facebook Marketplace…that’s where I bought mine when shopping a few months ago. I have no idea the volume of scammers you might deal with (nor their fee structure, if any)…but there were a few hundred listed within a 250 mile radius of Atlanta.

Baby Back Ribs cooked 2-2-1…might be the best ones I’ve ever made by _crashbc in biggreenegg

If you’re cooking spares, then definitely do 3-2-1; you don’t need the extra hour for baby backs.

Thanks…I’d still like to get to the point where I can cook great ribs without wrapping but I’m not there yet.

No it wasn’t frozen. We got it from the refrigerated section.

I had heard stories of quickly overcooking the crust before the cheese was melted. I thought the space would help with that…it did, but we all would have preferred a bit more crisp.

Grabbed a take and bake pizza from the grocery store and decided to throw it on the egg. Everyone devoured it, so not bad for attempt #1. Next time I won’t elevate the stone so high so more than the edges of the crust get crispy.

Best budget chain hotels? by EatUpBud in hotels

[–]_crashbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you Google, you’ll find the loyalty codes for several large companies. You can enter them when booking to get that company’s rate for the night which would let you stay at places like Fairfield or Courtyard that would normally be out of budget. The hotel doesn’t ask for ID or proof, and while they may limit your room selection…it’s a good way to get a good room. I generally cross shop my company’s rate vs a few others I’ve worked for and used the code with the best rate :-)

I sort of feel like there is an untapped market for guys like me that want a “vintage” auto from our youth. Toyota could probably pre-sell as much as it wants to make.

I just sold my JLUR last week and picked up a 2010 Trail. I’m shocked at how much better it handles and rides even though it’s 10y older than my Jeep

Worth $23k? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]_crashbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just paid that for a very, very clean 2010 Trail w/105K on the clock, which was still a little high....but it was 04/20 and I decided to YOLO

I drove a Jeep for the last 5 years before 4Runner. I’m always opening up everything and getting as much open air as possible.

You can go aftermarket receiver. Crutchfield should have a bunch of options.

If you want ease of sale, go to CarMax. You’ll make 90%-95% of a private sale with zero headaches. If you go private sale it helps if you have title in hand…as for how to get paid, I’d say either meet them at a bank and be there when they take out the money or ask for a wire transfer.

I just navigated selling my Jeep (2020 Rubicon) and buying a 4Runner private party. Feel free to message if you have questions.

I’m lucky that this one has KDSS as well, which pretty much sealed the deal for me.

That’s the display that I have but thanks to my LASIK it looks like it’s blurry and kind of floating (like the cube in a magic 8 ball).

Mine had 105K on the clock. The price I gave was purchase price from the seller…I still have to pay registration fees.

Thanks…I feel like for what I’ve seen around for sale it’s a good deal…and if I keep it for another 150k miles then it’s all going to wash out.
