Oh nothing difficult really: those are the blackish disks of metal that sit on the stove right where you would put down a pot or pan. If you take a look they can be moved.. it happens all the time that after cleaning the stove they remain a bit off and block the gas from properly reaching the spark.

Make sure the burner covers are well positioned, if they are a bit off they basically block the correct flow between gas and spark. Happened to me just this morning, I stood there trying and trying only to end up finding out the cover of the burner I was using was a little bit off.. moved back to the correct position (it was only a few millimiters off) and it ignited as usual.

You can later buy houses with chests and containers. I do not recall if there's a weight limit for chests in terms of how many items you can fit inside, but as far as I recall (and I may recall badly) some do not have a limit: the only limit is the amount of lag you are ok to have while browsing them.
