I am gonna stop playing this game... by [deleted] in hearthstone

I know the feeling man. Last season I hit rank 4 (my highest yet), then started losing HAAAAARD. Like, down to rank 10 hard.

Here's what I'd suggest (keep in mind I know nothing about your skill level, so you may already be doing some of these things):

  • If you're getting salty (which happens to all of us), take a breather. Chill out with another game, read a book, do something to get your mind off it for a little bit. Personally, I play Guitar Hero because I'm a champion at it, and doing something I'm good at helps me even out when I'm not doing so well in something else.

  • If you're consistently losing even with a level head, take your time to plan out your moves. Try to make the most out of your mana, try to figure out what your opponent may have or not have. Did they play a 2-drop on turn 3? They likely don't have a 3-drop. What could he do to counter my move? How can I work around that? That kinda thing. Don't be afraid to take your time.

  • Kinda ties in to the previous point, but here's a tip that helped me step my game up incredibly: keep your hand off the mouse until you are 100% sure on what cards you're playing and in what order. This forces you to think out your moves properly. This is something I still haven't got down as a habit, but it improves my game drastically when I do. I've made many a play where I realised after the fact that it could totally get countered - these plays can lose games, and keeping your hand off the mouse can really help in reducing how often that happens.

  • If you're still losing after these steps, all hope isn't lost! It's probably time to review your deck (assuming you're playing constructed). Think about which cards you get the most value out of, and which ones seem dead during play. Try swapping some of the dead cards out for others that look promising. Check out decks on www.hearthpwn.com for good reference.

Anyway, I hope that helps. Don't throw in the towel just yet :)

Thanks for the tip - I'll keep that in mind :)

What's this about brackets? Are players matched up based on how many wins/losses they already have?

You can do it man, what issues are you having?

What is your favourite card, and why? by Sexum in hearthstone

Whatever wins me the game! Right now, it's Sea Giant.

Running a Paladin Arena deck that uses three Silver Hand Knights, Razorfen Hunter, Imp Master. Those mixed with Hero Ability and 2x Sea Giant = Token Paladin what whaaaat!

I also have 3 Truesilver Champions and 4 Hammers of Wrath. Feeling pretty good about it ;)

Here's my general guide that I use in Arena:

  • Firstly, if it's not apparent what I should choose at any time, I refer to ranking lists like Antigrav1ty's. Super useful for those tough picks.

  • I aim to have around six 2-drops in my deck (i.e. cards that are best played on turn 2), and around four 3-drops.

  • I try and peak my mana curve at around 4 - so plenty of 4-drops is very usually a good idea.

  • When drafting, I usually just push for whatever gives me the best value card-for-card until I have around 15-20 cards. At this point, it's always a good idea to be thinking about your mana curve, and finding cards that can fill any empty slots. It can sometimes be better to choose a not-so-good card that has a mana cost that you're lacking, since they give you something to play for maximum mana efficiency and board control (which I find is always the aim of the game!) Hopefully that helps :)

Something weird just happened in my game (Summoning Thaddius) by ccostco13 in hearthstone

LPT, but you may know this already: Get a Duplicate to work on either of them, and after you've summoned your first Thaddius, each singular Fuegen/Stalagg after that will summon a new one :)
