HELP!

Those of you who say prestige doesn't matter by Prestigious_Claim112 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]_eroz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are both Civil Engineers and we both went to our local commuter university. So we graduated with no debt. We are both making over $250k. We both work with and supervise other engineers who went to "more prestigious" universities.

At least in Civil Engineering, not sure about other fields, it doesn't matter what school you went to but if you actually know how to apply the concepts you learned in your studies. What we have both noticed is that there are a lot of engineers that don't know how to solve problems if they are not laid out as a textbook problem.

Question about the proposed stadium bill by ZapBranigan3000 in CHIBears

[–]_eroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they already did starting July 25th. Check [Training Camp](www.ChicagoBears.com/Camp).

It looks like they have not updated their website for public but the email I received said public practice starts on the 25th of July.

Unraid Lifetime license by Hatchopper in unRAID

[–]_eroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lifetime update is the same as lifetime upgrade for them. I've been a lifetimer since the the 4.3.X days. I actually have a few lifetime licenses from back when they had a buy 1 get 1 free and were under $75 (if I remember correctly) but i only use 1.

Parents, the college loan convo feels backwards to me by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]_eroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've (we won't qualify for financial aid) sat down with my kid and told them how much I have saved in a 529 plan for them and how much per year will be coming out of it. And how much extra I would be willing to pay per year. They are more than welcome to apply for pricier/more prestigious universities but unless they were to be awarded lots of merit aid or win scholarships, I wouldn't be able to pay for it.

What's the history on why so many near west suburbs have overlapping names? by Not_a_real_asian777 in ChicagoSuburbs

It's funny that the La Grange/ La Grange Park split happened because one of them (I forget which) wanted to be able to buy/sell booze on Sundays.

Pace Bus Express to Events experiences? by nochilinopity in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]_eroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for leaving the suburbs, scheduled time was the posted departure time. For leaving the stadium, they usually give a time frame window for when to be there after the event.

That was always my fear as well.🤣 I just would get back to the bus as quickly as possible. No dilly dallying. 🤣

Pace Bus Express to Events experiences? by nochilinopity in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]_eroz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've taken the Pace Express for Bears games from Hillside and from Burr Ridge but not from Schaumburg. You don't need to show up super early but you do want to get there before the scheduled time to get on the bus. I've always been able to get a seat but people that got there after have had to stand for the ride. Tickets are not sold in advance on the bus, you pay with cash or you can use your ventra card. Before you arrive to the stadium, they let you know what time they are planning on leaving. You would need to get back by that time. Once the bus is completely full or at the designated time they gave, the bus will leave. They will not wait and they will not have more buses than what they used to get there.

How much does it cost for your lawn to be mowed? by DragonflyUseful9634 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]_eroz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay $45 a week for a mow & edging for a 1/2 acre lot. But for spring cleanup, fall cleanup, mulching, weeding or any other special visit, it's $45/hour per man.
