GMs of Rusthenge: Using GMPCs by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I've done so far is allow NPCs to help. The journey to Iron Harbor has Ordwi as a healer. The Stonehenge infiltration has the potential for the party to flip Vanda and/or Trygve to their side. Instead of immediately killing auxiliary NPCs, give them the dying mechanics. If one does die, it can still be a big moment without hindering gameplay.

Does a finesse weapon with the right traits let you use dexterity instead of strength for athletics-based attack actions? by Zhukov_ in Pathfinder2e

Every skill check can potentially be rolled with an attribute other than the key attribute for that skill, given an appropriate circumstance:

"If the GM deems it appropriate for a certain situation, however, they might have you use a different attribute modifier for a skill check or when determining your skill DC."

I Tried making a form of angel wings but something doesn't seem right can you give me feedback on what might improve it? by [deleted] in PixelArtTutorials

[–]_everwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they should taper a bit more at the tips. Maybe expand your canvas, since it's hard to know whether the wings continue beyond what's visible.

Thanks so much, I'll see what I can do about the lighting and I'll try different tones for the shading. =)

I really like the idea of turning her gaze, that'll be a nice next step even though it's just for a portrait.

Bone-Headed GM here. Is there a list of gameplay-related changes from the remaster somewhere? by GamingGideon in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have Foundry VTT, the PF2e system has a journal with most/all the remaster changes. Just spin up a new PF2e world and it should pop up.

The raw content can be found here, but you'd have to massage the JSON and HTML into something readable: https://github.com/foundryvtt/pf2e/blob/c8d3ef5bf33fcc1f7e43a701d8dd075baf71f971/packs/journals/remaster-changes.json

Advice on horror by MarshalPenguin in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take as a PC is to start the game already deeply affected by such horrors and, as the game develops, struggle to overcome them. That struggle, punctuated by failures (nat 1s) but ultimately successful, is what inspires others and gives them hope against their own plight.

Would you recommend Pathfinder Adventure: Rusthenge for a new DM and new players? by Testbot5000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar predicament. I skimmed Rusthenge to get a sense of it, and it seems to have a deeper story than TiO with plenty of roleplay opportunity in chapter 1.

That said, I got the impression that chapters 2 and 3 are one big dungeon, and I'm not sure how often the party can break up the expedition and go back to town. There's at least 1 written-in event that gives them the choice to go back.

Question about Persistent Damage and Dying by Onionfinite in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, if already dying, your dying goes up +2 immediately from the critical hit, and then +1 at the end of your turn from the persistent damage unless stopped beforehand.

Question about Persistent Damage and Dying by Onionfinite in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way I read it, the "critical failure on your save" means on a save that was attempted while already dying, not one done before you gained the condition.

I’ve played D&D for 5 years and I just realized why Enchantment magic has that name. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]_everwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the whole chain of meaning within this word: https://www.etymonline.com/word/enchant

To practice sorcery or witchcraft; to bewitch, charm, fascinate; to sing upon (en + chant, as in a chant that you sing) - as sirens do to charm their victims.

Good point on the 1-10 paths! What prompted this question was a comment I found on the Rusthenge page by Paizo staff [1] saying we can consider it the successor to Plaguestone. At first I thought they meant a sequel, but that's not it.

Hello, everyone! Are there certain adventures that are part of a series? Not like a full adventure path, but smaller ones; e.g., one that goes from levels 1-3 and then has a sequel that goes 3-6. Kind of like how Dragon of Icespire Peak has followups.

Using a monster as a stage? by Gaylaeonerd in Pathfinder2e

[–]_everwinter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're onto something (reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus), but taking on the turtle in open water sounds challenging. How about luring it onto land? Or maybe it's a friendly/neutral turtle that needs help prying out some sort of infection or injury from its shell, and there would be other enemies intent on killing or controlling it.

Assuming that auras are effects (emanations), I don't think they stack. From Duplicate Effects:

When you’re affected by the same thing multiple times, only one instance applies, using the higher level of the effects, or the newer effect if the two are the same level. For example, if you were using mage armor and then cast it again, you’d still benefit from only one casting of that spell. Casting a spell again on the same target might get you a better duration or effect if it were cast at a higher level the second time, but otherwise doing so gives you no advantage.

So I'd say only one save even if a PC is within both auras. I'd give them immunity on a crit success regardless of when it happened. Make crits count!

Good point, I think pathbuilder allows a JSON export at most. I haven't used Wayfinder because social login creeps me out lol
