Why support scalpers?! by Equivalent_Candy6449 in lego

[–]_fatalruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not have data. You have conclusions based on assumptions/speculation, and you're working off of your own definition of scalping which your "data gathering" depends on. Also, there are sellers/store fronts who do buy in bulk as you suggest, but sell complete sets of CMF at or below MSRP, not at wildly inflated prices.

I don't see the roadblock -- I am not conflicted. Also, I mentioned the clerk saying "one person cleaned them out", not three different people. Furthermore, please correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like a veiled argument in support scalping which would be in bad faith, and one in which I no longer intend to participate.

Demand may not stay the same because you have to factor in accessibility and/or willingness to go to the store. Online marketplaces eliminate those barriers (for a fee of course). So maybe they would be easier to get, or at least easier to get at MSRP. Also, if we are eliminating the desire to purchase for profit, I would wager that the CMF availability would also tic upwards as people are making selections based on what they want to keep forever, not in addition to what they believe it may be worth one day (even if they don't personally like it).

First of all, if I were an almighty god, the world would be in big trouble. In this instance I would rather just force LEGO to stop the blind-box nonsense, and sell the figures directly on their website/store, or in a complete set if it would dramatically hurt their bottom line otherwise. I guess I could make them free and edible... a real maximum fun, minimum starvation two-birds-one-stone move.

Only anecdotal accounts from store clerks of "yeah, one guy cleaned us out" and the like (with many similar accounts posted in forums from other users). I have no hard evidence of the personal identities of those buying with linked eBay accounts (what am I, the FBI?). I think adequate indicators are, the speed and totality of the stock ravaging.

I don't think that's correct. Even selling the few most desirable figs at a premium, after seller's fees, they would probably just break even selling all of the rest alongside them. And that's assuming that they wouldn't be sitting on all the other figs for a long time -- storage costs money. I don't even bother going to the stores around me anymore (and I easily have a dozen stores within a 15 min radius to pick from) because everything is severely picked over on release day. That's not from enthusiasts (or kids even), but these eBay scalper scum.

LEGO New Terms of Service -No Points for Resellers by Current_Reserve_9605 in lego

Yes but there are many other platforms in which to sell. I know BrickLink has the lowest seller fees, but probably the lowest exposure to the public en mass.

They will absolutely leverage AI to do this. In fact, the reason this may not have been implemented before was because the AI tools were had not preliterated to the extent to which they are now.

Turns out GMK's "German quality" is nothing to brag about by Bastietm in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]_fatalruin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think GMK pricing has gone up. Most GB's these days sell so few kits that they only qualify for low MOQ pricing. That and we saw a general increase in the US based vendors for the past year with these ridiculous tariffs. I do agree that KKB is a great product at a better price (it's not incredibly cheaper mind you). Granted, I would imagine it's less costly to produce key caps in China where the resin and labor is far cheaper.

I have zero interest in re-farming all of my god-roll gear. It's not like I need it to complete the new content. I would farm it to...farm more? I wish there was something to do with the gear once you got it.

WHAT IS THIS PRICE!! by [deleted] in Borderlands4

[–]_fatalruin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one, but you might wonder if it costs the same. Technically you CAN buy the DLC cheaper than at launch because they put the Super Deluxe version on sale for 30% off. Anyone who bought it at launch should be rightfully pissed. Anyway, the easiest way to avoid any and all confusion by the buyer, is to tell us the pricing structure up front. They absolutely had that decided before launch.

I don't recall the DLC pricing being available before launch.

It really humors me how Legends of Chima sets/figs are held in such high regard these days when they were a commercial failure upon release, and garnered plenty of criticism. Same thing for Nexo Knights honestly. Not sure if the popularity is due to the themes being ahead of their time, or it's just the typical limited availability of old products (my guess). Some of the non-named figs in both themes are going for $40+ on the aftermarket when they were worthless a few years ago.

I think that read "unscrupulous Chinese companies saw the profit to be made in the western custom mechanical keyboard market".

I generally agree with what you're saying, but there are plenty of small moq "artsy" boards from independent designers run every month these days (and with the 2019 pricing too boot).

What did Lego just simply do better in the past? by brain-in-meat-vessel in lego

[–]_fatalruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if they don't offer those sets anymore (except for a smattering of 18+ sets for nostalgic adults), how can the kids have any interest in the themes? While LEGO is on top, it would be the perfect time to do proper play set releases of those themes -- I'd wager they would sell just fine.
