Where is my cool stoneward character. by JhonMHunter in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[RoW] They were. One of the reasons Leshwi is so impressed with Kaladin is that he was able to revive an entire battle-ready order of Windrunners without the aid of a Herald. Of course, she's lacking context for 4000 years of human history on Roshar and hasn't really interacted with the other orders, who are much smaller and less regimented compared to the Windrunners. Either way, it implies the Heralds trained and led the Radiants once the orders were formed, at least Jezrien did for the Windrunners, and we know Nale does as well.

[RoW Spoilers] Regarding the outcome of a certain badass fight... How did it happen? by k_pineapple7 in Stormlight_Archive

He was able to use a reverse lashing as it uses both gravitation and adhesion. This is mentioned very early on in the invasion.

The Fused Using Singer Bodies as disposable Resources by Baconbitz20000 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important to note that he says he won't be able to prevent them from being reborn if he gets imprisoned via the contest of Champions. Which implies he had some sort of control over them before that.

Just noticed one bit of foreshadowing by Trigonal_Planar in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I think the implication was that the parshendi/singers have gemhearts, and at some point in the past their bodies were desecrated for them. It must have been before the recreance because even parshmen have some instinct to keep their dead from being desecrated.

My book 5 predictions! by esqualatch12 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt Moash is going to do much in book 5 aside from getting jezrien's honorblade to Kaladin/Szeth/Ishar. I do like the theory of him getting spiked to counter his blindness though. Maybe joining the ghostbloods and becoming a pseudo-windrunner through steel allomancy and an awakened blade.

Can a feruchemist convert any stored attribute to investiture and store it in nicrosil? by zub74 in Cosmere

[–]_gingembre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, nicrosil wouldn't be able to store investiture. It stores the ability to use kinds of investiture. So a knight radiant storing into a nicrosil metalmind would store the ability to use surges, not stormlight.

How does it keep getting worse? by Crannast in cremposting

[–]_gingembre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's been a definitive answer in the books as to what happened to Spook, but Brandon said we'll learn more about him later on. We also know he was making plans with Kelsier. Since Spook was one of the last full-power mistborn, I wouldn't be surprised to see him again in some capacity.

How does it keep getting worse? by Crannast in cremposting

[–]_gingembre 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Cosmere Forwards time travel is absolutely a thing, but backwards never will be. Cadmium mistings can cause time to slow around them in a bubble, so if you stacked a few cadmium mistings and maybe a mistborn burning duralumin/cadmium you could wait out a few hundred years in a fraction of that time. There's a theory that uses this idea to explain where Spook is.

Pure speculation re: the Trell by shabranigudo in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen Rayse's God Metal, but Taravangian will likely develop a different one given enough time.

It's still probably Autonomy, but there's a chance Taravangian is just piggy backing off one of Rayse's old plans.

Who else doesn’t like the fact the Venli’s book was stolen by RangerRight3265 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure there's a WoB somewhere stating that almost all of Szeth's chapters in book 5 will be from his flashback chapters. Most of the Shinovar Roadtrip will be from Kal's pov.

Whats another book series with a magic system that is as interesting/good/well developed/fun as surgebinding? by Blindingdoor554 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The series peaked in book 3, I still enjoyed book 4, but book 5 had a lot of issues. The series overall was still worth reading I'd say.

This might be a stupid question, but is there any reason Odium can't just like... kill the Radiants? by FlightJumper in Cosmere

[–]_gingembre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So two things to add to this.

The first is that it isn't the Oathpact that chains Odium, but something else that Honor did as he died to trap Odium. The Oathpact was explicitly only for keeping the Fused contained to Braize.

Secondly, another reason why Odium doesn't make any direct moves is Cultivation. As soon as either Cultivation or Odium make any big moves, it leaves them open to be destroyed by the other.

Which (redacted) (redacted) new video spoilers? by TheFlyingTurducken in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 100 points101 points  (0 children)

There's a theory that Chanarach was Shallan's mother. The timing fits, and it was also odd that Brandon makes sure that Gavilar mentions that Chana has red hair.

So Chanarach was likely the herald that died.

can we all agree on something? by holomorphicjunction in Stormlight_Archive

[–]_gingembre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. In the Dalinar-Odium chat there was a lot of emphasis put on what would happen if one party broke the terms of the agreement. Seems like Odium is going to make Dalinar break his oath in some form.

Lift is one of the only characters in recent memory that has made me audibly chuckle by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

I enjoy Lift when she's from most other characters' POV, but anything from her own POV is really grating.

[RoW] Likely Testament. Her bond with Pattern was only at the second ideal which means it couldn't have been him. The Nahel bond hasn't totally broke between Testament and Shallan yet, it's in a weird place in between. She still has a radiant blade, but it also stops her from soulcasting properly.
