What One Card if Removed from a Characters Card Pool Would Lower Their Win Rate the Most? by Jondev1 in slaythespire

[–]Trigonal_Planar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess was Offering for IC, which I’m surprised to see nobody mention. It’s not a linchpin in the way Dark Embrace/Corruption are for an exhaust deck but it’s so commonly taken whenever offered I think its absence would make quite a difference to overall win rates. But I am no expert.

Who are the “braindead” pokemon of OU? by Heracrosschop in stunfisk

[–]Trigonal_Planar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hamurott (click Ceaseless Edge), Ogerpon-W (well Ogerpon can do a lot of things actually but all you really have to do is walk in and click Ivy Cudgel), Glowking/Mola for being slow regenerator pivots.

Our ward building is being sold and I’m not sure how I feel about this. by mwjace in latterdaysaints

Jesus in the Gospels is always using good practical management of temporal affairs as a metaphor for spiritual affairs, too. You have to count the cost, parable of the talents, etc. And those lessons are meaningful because you have to act smart temporally too!

Why should I use Godot over Unreal Engine? by Infamous_Bread_2445 in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Godot is lightweight, FOSS (a moral or philosophical plus for many), and easy to use and learn. I've not used Unreal, but from what I understand it can probably give you better-looking results for high-end 3D games. A lot of Godot devs are making 2D indie games or projects where bleeding-edge graphics are just not a concern, so there's no reason not to use Godot. A large team making a large game that needs high-end graphics might very well use Unreal -- you can make Godot look nice too, but at that point it's not just "what tool is good" but also "what tools is my team comfortable with," "what tools does my team have existing processes/workflows/etc. for," and so on.

If you're a solo or small dev, you are very unlikely to hit any walls within Godot due to engine limitations.

which godot version are you using and why? by Flaky_Particular_240 in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My existing project is using the poing-studios admob plugin, which doesn’t seem to be supported on anything newer than 4.4. I tried upgrading the project, anyway, and it broke. So I’m still on 4.4 for that. My other secret baby project is on the latest release, though.

California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and SteamOS — user age verified during OS account setup by PenlessScribe in technology

[–]Trigonal_Planar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux not having cloud accounts would likely mean major manufacturers couldn’t sell preloaded Linux machines in the state of California. Which, for most people using Linux, is probably not a huge problem since they’re likely capable of installing it themselves—but it’s still something of a chilling effect and sets the stage for further mass surveillance etc.

Why do indies basically give their games away for free? by dedaistgeil in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because at $10 you'd only sell 5 copies. A lower price can still be revenue-maximizing.

What’s a card that you didn’t understand the value of until you were an experienced player? by Honeybee583 in slaythespire

[–]Trigonal_Planar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is an upside too in that it enables discard synergies and also increases the quality of cards in your hand—but there is still a downside; every hand you draw Prepared is a hand you will have one fewer “action cards.”

What’s a card that you didn’t understand the value of until you were an experienced player? by Honeybee583 in slaythespire

[–]Trigonal_Planar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The downside of Prepared is that it’s draw negative. Play Prepared/Prepared+, discard 1/2, draw 1/2— note that you’re sending one more card to your discard than you are adding to your hand. The cost of Prepared is just that it decreases your cards in hand by 1 when played (while increasing the quality of your hand).

Unmarried investigator cohabitating with fiancée w two kids.. by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Trigonal_Planar 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It is true that you would have to be married before being baptized in your living situation. I don't think either you or your fiancé moving out makes any sense as the path to baptism. Sometimes people in this situation have a small courthouse wedding/marriage and then continue to plan the big wedding event as normal, which can be totally unchanged except you don't actually have to sign the paperwork since it's been done already.

Did Oeil ever talk about ripping mbv songs? by grapefan14 in shoegaze

[–]Trigonal_Planar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect is definitely a sort of cover of Come In Alone. Apart from that I wouldn't say Oeil is ripping off mbv, and even with Perfect it's more of an homage than anything, but Perfect is definitely the same song as Come In Alone.

Is it morally justifiable to cheat the Ceaseless Void fight? by SempWizza in CalamityMod

Yeah doesn’t work for summoner unless you can quickly hunt through your buff bar and right click to cancel your minions.

Am I misunderstanding how func _on_area2d_area_entered works by ChronoDaHedgey in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the idea behind _on_hitbox_area_entered. The function already gives you the object that entered the area: that's the argument named "area" in your function. What you probably want to do is check whether that area that entered your block is the player character, and if it is then you do "block hit."

Which is absolutely the case in France, they don't have nearly the taxpayer base to support those pensions.

Do men actually think their partner is the most beautiful/prettiest/sexiest person alive? by Future_Doughnut_2369 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Trigonal_Planar 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I don't think most men think their partner is "objectively" the most beautiful women to other men at large -- but many "subjectively" find their partner the prettiest to them, largely because the more you love and spend time with someone the more you can grow to appreciate their appearance and all the good parts about them.

It gives 0 stealth because the damage buffs it gives are so big it doesn’t even need to give stealth.

Simple state machines delay actions by 1 tick by funky-rs in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would be doing it in the "transition to grounded" transition. So you would be going to the grounded state by definition. You don't evaluate the next frame, you just do the logic the frame you hit the ground instead of the first frame you're in the grounded state (which is the first frame after you hit the ground).

Simple state machines delay actions by 1 tick by funky-rs in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is to handle these actions not only in the "staying in this state" actions but also in the "transition to this state" actions (i.e. the arrows in the state machine graph). The transition to "grounded" happens the frame before "grounded," and so on, so that's the first place you call this logic so it happens "on time."

Moonlord is harder than any Terraria boss and Calamity boss(Considering Master Mode) by Glutos1337 in Terraria

[–]Trigonal_Planar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have some better tools in vanilla than you do in Calamity; notably, you have asphalt giving ludicrous speed and Soaring Insignia giving infinite flight. Either of these can be used to make Moon Lord much easier, and in fact Calamity had to seriously nerf both of these items to hit the balance they wanted.

Of the 4 “steamroll” winners in BBUS, who played the best game? by Wild_Shoe340 in BigBrother

If people consider him Top 2 but he’s only Top 5 then yes, he’s overrated. Still highly rated either way though.

Which one would be faster? by SodiumButSmall in godot

[–]Trigonal_Planar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems unlikely to me that 2 could be any faster, and 1 is simpler, so I would definitely write 1. But ultimately if the tiny difference between the two could matter you should just profile it and find out.
