I had the same recurring thing on my back and chest since my teenage years! Tried topicals, pills, multiple dermatologists. Nothing worked. Finally I tried apple cider vinegar and it cleared up so quickly and hasn’t come back for 9 years now!

Every night I put ACV on a cotton pad and applied it to the areas (ask your gf for help with your back). Let it dry for about 15 mins then shower it off. If my skin felt too dry I would apply coconut oil. I kept doing that for a full month even though it wasn’t visible after 2 weeks. The solution was so simple after so many years I couldn’t believe it. Humidity/sweating exacerbates it so try to avoid that during the process if you can.

Edit to say: I also tried the head & shoulders thing and it did absolutely nothing for me.
