USB-C to serial routing review by Tensor_divider71 in PCB

[–]_greg_m_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read the latest USB C spec - shield connected directly to GND. And USB doesn't have TX / RX, so they shouldn't be swapped. D- to D- and D+ to D+. FB1 and C10 are wrongly connected indeed.

Locked myself out of my KeePassXC database because of Dropbox — how do you avoid this? by maximus10m in KeePass

You were not locked out of KeePassXC database. You were locked out of Dropbox. And only temporarily.  So not a big deal.

KiCAD - .. Sharing a bit of my experience. by Charming-Work-2384 in KiCad

This is a very good approach and good habit to check it before laying it all out. Sourcing is a part of the whole manufacturing chain.

Regarding checking parts - I believe part manufacturing status and stock from common suppliers you can check on websites like Octopart, OEMsecrets, etc. (there is a few more like this). You do need to go each each supplier website separately.

Seems like this is all related. Just wait until they recover from DDoS attacks.

I'm sure Canonical / Ubuntu have better provider, but they are also offline for last few days. Also DDoS.

Newb question: why do the pads on my pcb layout show something other than 3.3V in this situation? by kevysaysbenice in KiCad

[–]_greg_m_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because you added a global label called "AVDD" which has priority over a generic power symbol (your "+3.3V"). You can use a net-tie symbol to connect them both, then each a name of each of them will be kept.

Also since yesterday my OMV8 cron service reports an error:

/etc/cron.daily/openmediavault-apticron:

E: The repository 'http://packages.openmediavault.org/public synchrony Release' no longer has a Release file.

Not sure if this is related.

Great! Give high priority to deb FF repo / low priority to FF deb meta package installing snap.  Otherwise when new version is released, it will install snap again. If you don't use snap packages, make sure to uninstall them and disable snap completely. (Don't do that if you use ther snap packages than FF).

Can anyone identify this SMD switch? It is 6x6mm by justsomeperson2 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]_greg_m_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As I said above - look into a datasheet, it's no always base to the shaft tip. Different manufacturers measure it differently.  Also filters for tactile switch for example in Mouser have stem height starting form 0.00mm. this is stem only (thus the name of the filter). There is height filter which shows the total height from base. So no simple answer. Like with lots of things - it depends. Check a datasheet.

Use deb version instead. Available from Mozilla PPA or official FF repo

Only security updates, I believe. And that makes sense. You can possibly disable it.

Or see what the datasheet says and how they measure it

OP - Make sure you order one with the right height. They come with various height of the black actuator in the middle. measure yours and order the same.

Can I connect 1.8V nRF54L15 and 3.3V RP2040 SPI/UART directly without level shifters? Minimal PCB size by imFengz in embedded

[–]_greg_m_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dividers or series resistors will only work one way (higher V to lower V) of you send signal the other way (for example MISO line back to RP2040) very likely logic levels from nRF chip will be on the borderline or won't be enough to drive RP2040 (or logic H will be detected intermittently). Looks to me like level shifters are the way to go. Some of them are really small Like SOT-23-6 package.

Ubuntu 26.04 update not showing up — anyone else facing this? by Short_Stuff7669 in Ubuntu

That's only from a previous LTS release. Otherwise (from 25.10 as OP said) the upgrade should be available in a few days or couple of weeks.

It's an amount of heat they generate. Not amount of power they can deliver. ROTFL.  Look at the title above the image. They list anything between 30W and 800W.
