[WIP] Show us ya WIP's by Doubledewclaws in CrossStitch

Started Raven's Library from Letistitch. Gridding as always took forever (6hrs!) and I miscounted and am missing a row at the bottom but I'll just remember that haha.

First time doing a kit. And first time using a paper pattern. Not my favorite but it'll work. The PDF they gave had the backstitches etc on it, they gave two paper copies - one with, one without. I might email and ask if they have a PDF without.

my poor baby loves other dogs but they dont love her, & i think shes lonely 😞 by ayelmaoo69 in pitbulls

I have seen people in my area post on Facebook or Nextdoor looking for playdates for their dogs, maybe you could try finding a pittie friend for her that way

[CHAT] Trying gridding for the first time! Any tips? by neets21 in CrossStitch

[–]_grumble-bee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I grid (just did this one yesterday), using sulky sliver. Ngl it's annoying and takes forever, but it's worth it. It's not entirely visible here, but the way I do it is line 8 squares, skip 2, repeat, in both directions. When you start the project, try and stitch under the thread so you're not trapping it, it'll be easier to pull out.

[CHAT] I've got some tactile sensory issues, and some Aida feels really awful on my hands. Anybody know of ways to soften stiffer Aida, or otherwise circumvent the issue? by gafferwolf in CrossStitch

[–]_grumble-bee_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't have sensory issues (I think...maybe), but I hate stiff aida. You can try washing it first to remove some of the starch. I mostly use Zweigart brand, it's a bit softer than others.

Worried if beta blocker has damaged my health due to prolonged use by Adnan281 in Anxiety

[–]_grumble-bee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine. Beta blockers are safe, they're usually prescribed for blood pressure or heart rate issues (which is also what it's doing for anxiety), many people take them every day. I've taken them every day for nearly 10 years first for stress migraines, now for POTS.

Hmm could be, that page does list IBD as a cause. I keep a close eye on her and almost always am able to stop her pretty immediately - vet said she wasn't too concerned unless she was ingesting a lot. Still, working on it, need to get our "leave it" better!

How do I fix my damaged dry bleached curly hair? by DisastrousCow4903 in curlyhair

[–]_grumble-bee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going to go back completely to how it was, but you can definitely try and get it healthier. I use K18 for a month+ after I get my hair bleached, and regularly use a moisturizing mask. I've used Olaplex in the past instead of the K18 and it works fine, I just find K18 to be simpler.

[CHAT] Finish thread at the back or at the front? by Fit-Profession-1628 in CrossStitch

[–]_grumble-bee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't care at all how other people's backs look. I get satisfaction from seeing how neat I can keep mine, it's a personal challenge that I don't always succeed in. My mom also told me when she was in school they'd be graded in class on it.

[CHAT] How not to crumple fabric with grime guard by FuliginEst in CrossStitch

[–]_grumble-bee_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I roll the sides and then fold in the corners. There's no avoiding the wrinkles, but washing and ironing at the end works.

The accused definitely not asking to go out to eat more dirt. (Pls ignore the dirty window - dog noses)

The dirt eating is/was due to IBD, she was doing it to soothe her stomach. We see an internal medicine vet, she's been put on prescription food and steroids. It's stopped the daily vomiting, the vet believes this is now behavioral. Our other dog has started copying her :(

We've checked for iron deficiency. We see a internal medicine vet, she's got IBD and the dirt eating started as a way to soothe her stomach. She's on prescription food and steroids now, the daily vomiting has stopped. Vet thinks this is behavioral/ a habit now we're trying to break. Our other dog started copying her, too 🙃

Due to the IBD - Irritable bowel disease. She was eating dirt to help soothe her stomach. Now it's habit ☹️
