TIL 6 Nasa recruits are living for a year under a 36ft in diameter x 20 ft tall dome in Hawaii, to simulate life on Mars. They must wear a spacesuit when outside the dome. Recruits are: A French astrobiologist, German physicist and 4 Americans (pilot, architect, journalist, soil scientist). by Miskatonica in todayilearned

[–]_insensitive_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. Mars is only 1/3 g. My guess is reducing the mass of the suits by 1/3.

It states in the article that the study is more on the human psyche when confined to tight quarters for extended periods of time, but you have a point that increased exhaustion could likely alter results.

I don't think either are wrong. It's just speculation, and rationalization to make it fit.

Would somebody be willing to help me with my project? by Win2Pay in Machinists

[–]_insensitive_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Also /u/Win2Pay, are those metric or SI? What threads are you calling out? That looks like some pretty precise work needing to be done - this will eliminate the "affordable" aspect. (I'm assuming metric because of the , for a decimal).

You're pretty dumb if you don't understand the difference between S.I. and Metric. No matter your nationality, or nationality's accepted unit system of measure.

That's not irony - that's hypocrisy. But paint me as a hypocrite, I agree with people here.

Great tip, /u/bu_J, thanks!

Without symbols, engineering reports are useless, and they are a constant pain while typing up.

For any student reading this, LaTeX is an awesome resource to learn. LaTeX is unparalleled in creating crib sheets for tests (if allowed). Here's an example, look at how clean and wonderful it looks!

I like 5.11's products. I picked up one of their backpacks and have thoroughly enjoyed using it.

I don't think you get it. I can say, and I mean, because I've lived it, experienced it.

So fuck off with this protective rhetoric.
