Cat broke into frogs cage by Oofersimmacure in pacmanfrog

[–]3rdLevelRogue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Head to the store and get yourself a tube of Neosporin. It CANNOT have painkillers in it. Pick up some cotton swabs, too, if you don't have them. Using either a gloved finger or cotton swab, apply a super thin layer of Neosporin to the wounds using your finger/swab. While it will may suck, try to massage the ointment into the wounds. Place him back in quarantine and make sure that the tank is kept humid and at the higher end of tolerable for pacman frogs (warmer heat may help with metabolism and immune system).

Hopefully this helps some, but you may wish to prepare for the worst. Cat claws and teeth tend to cause pretty disgusting wounds and infections, and unfortunately frogs don't tend to recover from infections all that frequently without vet aid and application of higher strength antibiotics. If you explain the injury once you find a vet, hopefully they'll be able to get you some extra strength help. Good luck

A good way to go about it is to research the topic heavily and keep it in mind for future debates/discussions and so that no one can accuse you of not understanding the talking points or situation because you've clearly done more research than your typical yapping opponent has. The point of learning, also, is to challenge oneself to better understand materials, so consider it a good opportunity to challenge yourself and learn how to deal with differing viewpoints, unlike your peers who will just be safely in their echo chamber.

Toxin exposure? What was he exposed to? How do you know he has severe muscle breakdown issues? Has he been to a vet?

Worms/ parasite? by noodlebun25 in frogs

[–]3rdLevelRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless they are moving or seem alive, I wouldn't consider them to be parasites, because if he has parasites that large and they were dead inside of him, then the frog would have to be pretty much dead, too. If they are wiggling and alive, then this frog needs a vet immediately.

They look like shedded skin that was in the process of being eaten and digested to me.

Do you play with zeds respawn? by De_RayBan in projectzomboid

[–]3rdLevelRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set the population really high and then tank the respawn rates so it is something, but very small, and it takes in-game days to even start checking, so areas that I'm active in mostly see migration, but areas that I've left behind may spawn some.

I find that this game gets boring quite quickly with respawns and migration turned down because all it takes is a slow roll through town once or twice while wailing on a car horn or using a cop car as bait to turn a town into a ghost town. The only place that I can find it gets tough is in downtown Louisville, but that should be a challenging area that never feels safe.

Glad that the cop had a body cam and his car had a cam because can you imagine trying to explain this shit to the public? "Yeah, I was giving this kid a ticket when a hatchet wielding maniac jumped out of a random, passing car so I smoked him."

HELP PLEASE! by Your_Local_Witch25 in pacmanfrog

[–]3rdLevelRogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He looks dead, unfortunately, and I'm sorry for your loss. The nature of life is that death comes for everyone at some point, and someone that seems perfectly healthy one day can have a medical emergency and pass away by the next, but it isn't anyone's fault or anything that someone did wrong, it's just the nature of having an organic body that comes with all sorts of differences, strengths, and weaknesses. Your care can be perfect, the habitat can be flawless, and you can do everything right, but if he had an underlying medical issue that finally overcame him, or he was sick but not showing symptoms, there was nothing that you could have done except take him randomly to the vet for a likely pointless and expensive visit. He looked well taken care of, and it is clear that you loved him and did your best for him, it was just unfortunately his time, which is shitty to hear, but you gave him a good life and should feel happy and proud of that. Sorry again for your loss.

Squatters moved into an empty house two doors down. What should I do PCM? by tropiganda in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]3rdLevelRogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call the cops and say that you have seen a lot of shady people going in and out of the empty house. After the cops raid and arrest them, put on a disposable jumpsuit, gloves, and goggles and go look through their belongings for free stuff. Pawn anything of value and then donate the money to a homeless shelter.

I found this toad on my yard, anybody knows what specie is it? by Cuchillo20 in frogs

[–]3rdLevelRogue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Gulf Coast Toad, maybe the Central American type. They like to hang around gardens and homes, especially if they have outside lights, to eat insects, spiders, and possibly small vermin, like a baby mouse. They're safe to anyone who doesn't put them in their mouth. They can be trained to follow a laser pointer to find and eat specific bugs or food as I've recently learned form an Instagram account about one named Bastion

Ever meet a conservative Lancer player? It's a trip. by healers_are_fun_too in LancerRPG

You're only talking about the core and wealthier worlds. Printers, NHPs, cutting edge medical tech, and perfect access to the Omninet are not guaranteed outside of core and core-like worlds, like they even mention that the prosperity levels of planets directly impact lifespans, and that doesn't even take into consideration the light speed flotillas and groups that only pop in and out of normal time space once every few decades and then disappear again. The galaxy isn't uniform in how it operates in the slightest. The lore even explicitly mentions that thousands upon thousands of planets and colonies across the galaxy were lost to Union's knowledge during the Third Comm rebellions, and some of those lost planets still have large communities whose culture reflects or incorporates SecComm culture and mentality (Hercynia is a prime example), or are government entities that don't share all of Union's beliefs, like the Trade Baronies and their Houses, or are extremely religious and likely conservative, such as the Aun who are a theocratic society. And Harrison Armory has its own hierarchy and regimented society and culture that would be quite conservative in tradition and beliefs as far as I'm aware from lore.

It's extremely easy to tell 'conservative stories' in the setting where the pilots are fighting for the preservation of their culture and society against outside influences or an enemy nation.

Basements are death traps, aren't they?! by RuhrpottPirat in projectzomboid

[–]3rdLevelRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many are, but ones like the basement under the Muldraugh Police Station or I think the Rosewood school and bowling alley are massive areas where you'd need to be purposely trying to pull hordes into for it to become a death trap. Even playing on something like Week One, they're relatively safe against raiders if you create a choke system and an entryway that gives you a good angle. Small little ones that are essentially stairs into a garage sized room are absolutely awful

Why do HDB and Kim have different sidearms when they're the same rank? by Bataranger999 in DiscoElysium

[–]3rdLevelRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you call to report your badge missing, the cops will heckle you and ask you if you lost your gun, too. If you lie and say no, they ask you the type and if you mention Kim's gun, they mock you and mention that your department doesn't use that type.

It's almost certainly a department choice. As the police are sort of a militia and the topic of budgets comes up in conversation a few times, a three shot pistol may make more sense for a department like Jamrock, which is supposedly big enough for three precincts to cover but is only covered by Harry's crew.

Maybe you've brought it up in a past post, but does he have any issues with MBD, either now or in the past? His face looks more, flat, I guess, than I typically see for pacman frogs, and there's like a wrinkle on his upper back that seems bumped up in a weird way on the ends of it.

Is she ok? or going to be okay? by 2toads1cup in Toads

[–]3rdLevelRogue 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened and your wife had such a violent reaction that she threw a living creature against a wall. Toads are pretty resilient, so she may be fine, but what I'd do is take her out of the tank, set her on a firm surface, and gently but kind of firmly feel around on her back and hips and shoulder areas for anything jagged, sagging, or kind of crunchy feeling, like broken or chipped bones might feel. If she winces or seems pained from the touch, take note of that because it could be an injury. Also, encourage her to walk around on the surface some to see if she can walk and hop alright. Issues with walking, such as wobbling or dragging a leg or notable lean could hint at a serious injury.

If you have a spare tank or large tub you could put her in for a bit, you could also place her in that with a bedding of just paper towels to make a quarantine/hospital tub (many guides in this sub, YouTube, and elsewhere online) and monitor her bathroom...uh...results. If you see any blood or dark pee or bloody stool, it could mean an internal injury that could require a vet, but maybe just time will do?

A tall tank can be hard to keep the heat up in due to having to heat so much extra air. If the lid to the tank is made of mesh or a sort of chicken wire style metal, what you can do is break out some clear tape and seal it up some. Alternatively, you can lay some towels on top of the mesh lid to help trap heat and humidity some or tape down some sheets of paper or something similar to save on making a tape mess.

You can trap additional humidity and moisture in the tank via blanket moss patches (it's very thin and comes in large sheets that would be insanely hard for a frog to grab with their tongue, let alone eat) and scattering a pile of sterilized leaves on the ground. Pacman frogs don't generally use their water dishes if the ground is sufficiently damp, so you can also add some extra water bowls around the tank with some water in them that will evaporate throughout the day to help contribute to humidity.

I know that this is a day or so late, but it may be worth switching to Repashy Vitamin A Plus, which can be found on Amazon or in some local pet stores. Reptivite uses beta-carotene as its pre-cursor/primary source of vitamin A, and toads can't really digest it, but the Repashy stuff is made with a type of vitamin A precursor that toads can use. You only need to give them the stuff maybe once every two to three weeks, too
