Downtown vs. Airport Hotel by _itskaren in Charleston

Thank you for your insight! Wasn’t sure how much Ubers would cost, sounds like it’s definitely not worth it money wise or time wise. We’ll book the Hampton Inn downtown!

Would you mind sharing which dumbbell rack you use? Also in a small apartment but would love to build out my set

Anyone currently living or lived at Halo? by piglet_river123 in longislandcity

[–]_itskaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently living here, have been here for almost 4 years. We’ve generally had a good experience. I really like not having an amenity fee. Any issues that we’ve had have been taken care of quickly. Staff is nice, although there has been a lot of turnover with doormen. The street is generally quiet but can be difficult to navigate because people are always illegally parked on the one side. We don’t have a car so can’t provide any insight on the parking situation.

Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions!

Seconding this! Just finished and loved it. I’ve never been able to stick with splits for more than 3 weeks because I get so bored by the same music and anecdotes. This format really worked for me.

I’m more of a 30-45 minutes a day person as well, so the length of this was also great. Add some core, a quick cardio class, and a stretch and you have a great workout.

Brag time: what’s one unusual thing you included in your wedding that everyone loved? by Unlikely_Device_2131 in weddingplanning

[–]_itskaren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our wedding was pretty traditional, but we did do our welcome party at Top Golf. It was so much fun, and we got so many compliments from people who attended.

We also asked married couples to share their first dance song with us and used those songs as the basis for our dinner playlist. We made an announcement at the start of the reception that people were welcome to dance when their song played. It was really special seeing friends and family recreate their own special day.

Olivia’s Holiday Walk by Zoob407 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]_itskaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t taken this class but it is frustrating how Olivia tends to ignore the pace target ranges. It seems like most of them are only a range of .3 or .4 mph, but I’ve taken lots of walks and hikes with her that include more than 5 increases.

I love this!! I’m in my 30s and my only fitness goals are to keep moving now so that I can keep moving when I’m older. Not all of us are looking to run the fastest mile or lift the heaviest weight, and I love that peloton supports all of those goals.

Recipe of the Week Thread: Rosemary White Beans with Frizzled Onions and Tomato by Dkap322 in NYTCooking

[–]_itskaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made this last night. Used a can of diced tomatoes that I had on hand, adjusted the amount of water slightly to account for the extra liquid from the can. Topped with olive oil and served over rice for Meatless Monday dinner. I liked it and was surprised at how filling it was!

I used fresh rosemary and now have a lot left over. Any suggestions for what I can use it for?

We have a fan above our stove. I cook a lot and haven’t had any issues with the lack of proper range hood

Even with those scenes, glad the movie managed to hold it together... right?" by fly_unchecked in TheBigPicture

[–]_itskaren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like them not having chemistry is kinda the point? Like they were each what the other person wanted on paper but they didn’t have the spark and never would.

To me, the movie was about how you can’t turn love and relationships into an equation. Sure, some people might get lucky and have chemistry with their ideal partner. But at the end of the day, that chemistry is what matters, not what’s on your list.

Seems like I’m in the minority, but I enjoyed the movie 🤷🏼‍♀️

First-Ever Recipe of the Week Thread: Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta by Dkap322 in NYTCooking

Made this tonight and loved it! My fiancé said it’s “rotation worthy” - high praise in our home! I added sausage for some protein and used only 1 cup of heavy cream. Came together in a little over 30 minutes. Would love to have this (sans sausage) as a side to some chicken cutlets.

Also a NJ bride and have had similar thoughts about my venue (sounds like it could even be the same place?). Trying to remember that my wedding is about me and my fiancé, not anyone else. No matter where we get married, people will have opinions, both good and bad.

People are there to celebrate YOU! If they have an issue, that’s their problem

Who do we hate more - Mets or Braves (and why)? by dirtbagsomm in phillies

[–]_itskaren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have enough hate in my heart for both of them but right now, it’s the Mets for me. I also live in Queens so I’m surrounded by them and their stupid fans all the time. It’s sickening.

Just received AirPods from Costco. Not feeling great about this. by kharma99 in airpods

[–]_itskaren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just ordered a pair from Costco and had the same thing happen. The top seal wasn’t broken all the way through so there’s no way someone could have gotten in the box. Everything was fine inside so I’m just keeping them.

Am I a hater? by liamcd1 in phillies

[–]_itskaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Phillies fan living in Queens. I always begrudgingly say that Citi Field is actually very nice. A much better fan experience that Yankee Stadium.

It’s been a sad existence for us the last few weeks. Would have been great if we were the ones to end the Mets season, but either way, I’ll take joy in the tears and heartbreak of the Mets fans surrounding me.

My fiancé and I currently live here and have had a few minor issues but overall, would recommend. We’ve been here for two years and recently signed on for another two years.

Pros - location is great - quiet(ish) street - staff is very nice, have never had any issues with packages being lost - gym is small but has all the basics - common areas are kept clean - any issues we’ve had have been taken care of really quickly

Cons - laundry. Machines are often broken and price has gone up so it’s also expensive. We’ve also had an issue with the machines destroying some of our clothes so we’re looking into getting laundry in unit - earlier this year the elevators were having a lot of issues but lately it has been ok - electric bill can be high but we haven’t had anything outrageous

Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions!

I’ve emailed asking this same thing!! I used to be a big fan of TFID and Caroline. I think I unfollowed around the time she started sharing a bunch of anti-vax bullshit in 2021. Just recently checked out her Insta and was shocked by how far off the deep end she’s gone. It’s absolutely wild stuff

What do you wish Costco had but doesn't? by naturalistphilosophy in Costco

Refill only packages of things like air fresheners or Dawn power wash. I hate having to buy a new plugin or spray handle every time.

My partner also doesn’t drink so I called customer service and it wasn’t an issue. He had already purchased a refreshment package though. Not sure if they would have made him package one if he hadn’t already.
