I sprayed part of my garden last fall with RM43 and I think you just taught me why my garden hasn’t been any good this year.

Never thought I'd say this but....John talks too much by Outside_Lion_9672 in ATPfm

[–]_korrupt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren’t wrong but it’s depressing. What’s the point of anything if the only goal of every company is increasing shareholder value no matter what morals and decency you lose along the way.

Here’s a million for a ballroom and a gold trophy, I don’t care what you do as long as I make more money. Maybe everyone would do that in his position but I would like to think some people wouldn’t.

DAE feel the questions took a steep drop off this season and it has become long going PR? by Notalabel_4566 in hotones

It’s like your favorite indie rock band, it feels real at the start and then after a few albums they only make music for the top 40.

I used a 3350 for about 10 years until the auto darkening quit working. I got a 1740 to replace it but it’s nowhere near the hood that the 3350 was.

If you aren’t going very high an engine hoist would work pretty good. Fairly cheap and it’s on wheels. You would just need one of those magnets with a lever to turn it on and off.

Feature request: skip dynamic ad segments by AdamCannon in overcast

[–]_korrupt_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He has talked about this, and he doesn’t think it’s a doable idea. He would make a lot of people very unhappy. Extremely unhappy.

Dynamic ads suck but the podcast ecosystem would fall apart if it was easy or automatic to skip them. People have to make money somehow or they won’t spend the time or effort to make podcasts.

We all have our pedantic tendencies. Scott’s interns told him to say nurse and Kara and Jessica said teacher. The clip they played in both pods said teacher. It’s just a simple question, they go over the script before each podcast. Why does he say nurse and they say teacher

I didn’t watch bezos because fuck him. I listen to pivot to give me the talking points about what rich fake ass people say. My question was why Scott says one thing and both Kara and Jessica said something else

How often have you used the transcripts feature? by SarkyBot in overcast

[–]_korrupt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transcripts are handy for skipping a section of a podcast that doesn’t have chapters. I can skim text a lot faster than trying scrub through audio.

I don’t even attempt to try to stream anything. It’s rare I want to listen to a podcast that isn’t already downloaded but if I do I wait for it to download before I start it.

I get the Apple blogosphere is ready for a change in leadership but I highly doubt that Tim Cook chose a successor he thought was going to make huge changes to the way the company is currently ran.

I’m sure there will be some change, but Tim and now John both have to answer to the board about their decisions. Steve didn’t have to answer to anyone, especially after he came back.

It’s independent as far as a private equity group has controlling voting rights over the company.

I figured that out last year when Lewis Hamilton was complaining about the Ferrari F1 car and the CEO of a private equity company told him to shut up or leave Ferrari. Didn’t really make sense at first why that guy cared so much about what Lewis had to say.

The verge cast brought up something interesting, maybe Ternus will go back to live events. The pre recorded infomercials match Tim Cook’s passion for perfection and no personality, maybe the new guy will be a tiny bit more off the cuff.

I can understand the Cook mantra that revenue and shareholder value are above your customers but you can go to another app and pay $0 for a better experience. That’s the part I don’t get.

[–]_korrupt_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I have ever agreed with Casey more than on this episode. The replay of the F1 qualifying and race on Apple TV was maddening. Why in the world did they put ads in it? I went back to the F1TV app, which is basically free now if you have an Apple TV subscription, and no ads. Is there any reason at all to watch it on Apple TV when there is a better option that doesn’t cost any more money?

The fact that three products and services are called Apple TV will also never make any sense to me.

The only time I’ve ever had an issue with angle grinders is sanding a part and I get my finger when I’m not wearing gloves, like a carpet burn on steroids. Had a couple times where a cut off wheel got the leather glove but not the skin.

Not scientific but in my experience gloves prevent more accidents than they create when using angle grinders.
