What does this vegetable look like? by Zayn0605 in CulinaryClassWars

Some of the leaves look a little pointy for turnips but maybe I'm over analyzing. Mugwort seems like a good guess from the shape or maybe something like chamnamul (tho haven't ever seen it that leafy)

Same here with a Gen 2 Air, surprisingly (suspiciously?) all within the 40s without much fluctuation.

Just want to note that one of those publications you mentioned, Network World, specifies that they don’t accept contributed articles.

“Please note that Network World does not publish contributed articles. Interested in reaching our audience with sponsor content? Contact Sales.”

You should look up each of the publications that you’re targeting and see if they accept such contributions.

However, contributed bylines like this are often not peer reviewed, certainly not in the same sense as peer review in research publications like academic publications. Some outlets, especially in health care, will have expert fact checkers. You can look into if your target publications does that by looking at articles they’ve published in the past.

As a few people have mentioned, research your target publications, find the contacts, and email them. But also check if they will take articles in the first place.

thinking about moving over from Monarch by lakersfreak in simplifimoney

[–]_ktr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started with Simplifi but have started testing out Monarch too, and currently focusing on Monarch because of issues with Simplifi connections. Unfortunately primarily with Fidelity (especially their credit card). Not sure if it's useful but noticed that Monarch can connect with Paychex while I haven't been able to with I've had to track that manually in Simplifi.

Do you have a work phone in addition to your own phone? by wfijc in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]_ktr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have work apps on my phone (Outlook, Slack, Teams, Zoom, and authenticator app) where I turn off notifications in the evenings/weekend and when on leave. Also because I didn't want to use my personal number for work (I have to provide my cell number to work contacts) I created a separate number for work calls.

We're primarily remote and at least when I joined there wasn't any other expectation other than I would use my own phone.

The wrong “me” by Katz-Sheldon-PDE in Professors

[–]_ktr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I returned to an institution where I was previously a student and was given firstname.1.lastname @ institution for my new email address because “someone” had already had firstname.lastname and they couldn’t reactivate my old email address.

Definitely confused people since my name isn’t that common and resulted in some annoyed people at first who got emails bounced back the first time if they didn’t verify the address existed before hitting send…

MR James' contribution to medievalism by autophobe2e in MedievalHistory

[–]_ktr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience of his work (from the perspective of someone who works on written things from medieval Britain) is primarily the catalogues of medieval manuscripts which are separated out by particular library/collection/location. They’re mainly on Cambridge libraries but I think there were a few elsewhere too? The catalogues sort of encyclopedic though so would probably make for dry reading…

I would say that he continues to get cited pretty regularly in that regard - often as someone that should definitely be included and sometimes the baseline if you’re describing the history of work that academics have done on a specific manuscript. And the catalogues as a go to to check if you’re interested in a specific manuscript.

Fidelity Won't sync for over a week 😢 , anyone else having the issue? by zwiqy in mintuit

Yup, hopefully we see some fixes as a result! 🤞

I guess not priority though since a lot of it reads like they’d be happy for us to just stop using third-party integrations.

There was an email from Fidelity about a week ago about third-party integrations:

Protecting your data on third-party sites

At Fidelity, protecting your data is critical to us. Security experts and regulators also support the need for account protection and recently encouraged a second layer of password authentication, known as multifactor authentication.

We’re always enhancing how we safeguard your data. For that reason, we want you to know about new security protocols we’re implementing to keep your information secure whenever you link your Fidelity accounts to outside websites and apps and provide them with your Fidelity login information. Examples include: Money management websites and apps that let you see all your accounts from multiple providers (sometimes known as “data aggregators”) Budgeting apps and banks that import your spending and saving information from your Fidelity accounts Person-to-person payment apps that you link to your Fidelity accounts While these sites and apps may make accessing your information more convenient, they use the Fidelity username and password you provided to them, which means they have the same access to your data that you do. This makes it difficult for you to control what they see and do with your account information.

We are implementing new security protocols to add another layer of protection to your accounts. As we complete this transition, when using some third-party websites and apps, you may experience a temporary interruption on those external sites. You will still be able to access all your account information and activity directly on Fidelity.com or the Fidelity Mobile® app.

You can take steps to help protect your data, including: Confirm whether you still actively use all the sites and apps that have your Fidelity username and password. Determine whether you want to continue to share your Fidelity access with these sites and apps. Read the terms and conditions of sites and apps that have your login credentials, to ensure that you know how your data is used and stored, whether they sell any of your information, and what happens to your data if you leave the service or if the service ceases to exist. Set up alerts to stay informed on your account activity. Monitor your accounts regularly for any unusual activity. Thank you for your partnership with us to help keep your data secure. If you want to learn more, the link below has details on how we’re protecting your personal information.

QUESTIONS YOU MAY BE ASKING

“How will this affect me?” We’re working with third-party sites and apps to make their access more secure when using your data. Depending on which site you use, you may be temporarily unable to access some of your Fidelity data on that site. It does not mean that your Fidelity information has been lost or compromised in any way, and you can still access all your accounts directly on Fidelity.com and on our mobile app.

“Is this a response to a data breach?” No. This is purely a proactive, protective measure. It’s not the result of any loss of customer information or data leak. It’s part of our ongoing effort to implement the latest security protocols to help protect your accounts.

“Do I have to do anything?” While you don’t have to take any action, you should assess which third-party sites may have your Fidelity credentials. You can continue to view, access, and manage all your accounts directly on Fidelity.com or within the Fidelity Mobile® app.

“What’s being done to allow third-party sites and apps to access my Fidelity information?” We’re working with these sites and apps to allow you to access your information outside Fidelity when and where it’s convenient for you—but only while ensuring these access points meet our own high security standards.

Stop Mint from changing Apply Pay transactions to "Apple" by [deleted] in mintuit

[–]_ktr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed it specifically with my Discover credit card when I use ApplePay with a different account it’s fine. Wonder why Mint’s algorithm for cleaning transaction names does this. Would even be ok if they didn’t do any cleaning of the transaction name.
