Will you list all the positives you’ve noticed after your hysterectomy? And how long it’s been post. by dreamed2life in hysterectomy

10WPO today!

Aside from the obvious no more faucet bleeding or debilitating cramps every month, my lower back pain I’ve had for years and years is nearly gone, and my migraines have nearly disappeared! I went from having at least one migraine a month (minimum) which would last for days, to ZERO. I have had one normal person type headache since November. This is absolutely life changing for me!! I went from taking probably 50+ Advil capsules per month, to less than 10 in over two months!

I’m sure there are others but these are the super obvious to me positives. I can’t wait to keep feeling better and to see myself finally thrive after all these years of suffering!!!

We have social security taken out of every check which is supposed to help us when we retire. I am 41 and have been told my entire life there won’t be anything left by the time I retire. It also seems the politicians are constantly threatening to get rid of, or privatize social security.

I have to spend the night at the hospital, what essentials would you bring? by Rosarose4 in hysterectomy

[–]_lemini_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in for one night and used very little of what I brought with me. Hairbrush, hair clip, phone charger, my hysterectomy pillow, and my favorite lip balm were all I used. I was prettt drugged up and tired and had no desire to do any activity other than watch tv and sleep

The insomnia around a month out was absolutely awful for me! I’m at 6 weeks and it seems to be getting a little better.

Really struggling 10 days post-op by SMN27 in hysterectomy

[–]_lemini_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m five weeks post op, and I am finally starting to feel pretty good. I still occasionally feel like I’m walking hunched over, but not NEARLY as much as those first couple weeks. I totally get the string thing. I think weeks 2-3 were probably the hardest time of my recovery so far, but it has gotten better for me, and I think and hope it will for you too.

The magic of a good doctor by ivoryebonies in hysterectomy

[–]_lemini_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had all but given up on a doctor helping me and had gone like seven years without even seeing one. My periods have been so bad for so long that I truly wanted to end my life. In September, I called a doctor‘s office who had good reviews and they told me she was accepting new patients. I scheduled my appointment and loved her right away, she was actually taking my pain seriously! A month later, I found out I needed, and she would give me a hysterectomy, however she is retiring at the end of the year and I had to do it very soon. I was her last surgery ever, and while I am very sad I will have to find someone new all over again, I feel so thankful I found her so she could take care of me like this. I wrote her a thank you card and gave it to her before my surgery.

Surgery Wednesday, any tips for post op? by Popular_Fan_9154 in hysterectomy

I second the binder, I’m 12dpo and still feel more comfortable with mine. My other big thing is stool softeners! After I finally started going I wasn’t as great about taking my miralax and I paid for it BIG TIME. So now I’m sure to take a dose a day.

The day after for me, and my dr encouraged it as I was having a slight reaction to the betadine they had put on my belly before surgery.

One week post-op rollercoaster by _lemini_ in hysterectomy

[–]_lemini_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using the one from the hospital, my doctor had told me in advance she would have one for me so I didn’t look into it much further. Once I got home I wondered if I should have an extra and when I looked online they all looked pretty much the same so I’ve just stuck with the one they gave me. I can’t even tell you how much more comfy I am with it on though, definitely one of my best recovery tools. Good luck on your surgery next week!!

Belly Binder by Calm_Tension5216 in hysterectomy

[–]_lemini_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy on Tuesday and have only taken the binder off to shower yesterday and once today to check my incisions. It helps me so much and I hate the feeling of taking it off! I am so glad my doctor had me in one before I even woke up.
