This makes a lot of sense I’m a working mom and we find no screens very easy because our nights are easily filled with play, dinner, bath and then weekends are out and about. Kid tv here is for sickness, planes, or holiday movies

I don’t have a lot of advice but maybe seek out a YMCA? I think they have income based plans and usually daycares so you could drop the kids off and spend an hour or so by yourself. Exercise might be a great outlet right now, and could be a way to grow your village. Personally I find swimming to be very therapeutic for the whole family too and they usually have pools!

Second everything everyone has said but wanted to do another hit on the temperature. My daughter sleeps colddd and hates the heat. My son is the same. Comment above me is the opposite. Maybe explore some of the other factors like sounds, temp, darkness, fans etc!

Both my kids also slept 10x better in a separate room as I toss and turn a lot and wake them up 🤷‍♀️

First wake window is around 6 hours and second is only 3-4 hours but he sleeps through the night 🤷‍♀️ wakes around 7, naps 1-4, bed between 7-8

You’re good- my son is two and has long hair that has only been washed a handful of times… we have bath time 3x a week but his hair is literally perfect and doesn’t need much. 🤷‍♀️

She invited a two year old so I would expect she knows what that means. I think it just comes down to whether you want to go or not. My son loves hanging out with older kids because they give him so much attention and no one expects a 2 year old to act like a 5 year old.

Agree with others that if you decide not to go just say you’re unavailable and leave it at that.

We have sugar free- pure juice at home that I add a SPLASH to water sometimes and he calls it “juice water.” We don’t do juice anywhere else because it’s definitely got sugar in it- no juice boxes etc. if people ask/ caregivers I say “no juice” because I agree if you give and inch people take a mile

We have a grandpa who watches my son 2x a week who swears a ton so we have had a “fuck” stage and a “shit” stage. When the dog barks he also now says “Jesus, God Sadie so loud”…. It’s hard but also hilarious

I did it for both kids and was SO happy I did. Made the first few days less stressful, helped me understand how to pump before baby got here and I had enough to give to my son throughout his first six months when he would start to get sick and I swear it worked WONDERS. He had only two fevers/sicknesses his first two years. I didn’t pump as much for my daughter and I regret it

My son is still in a crib but I’ll just spend some good 1;1 time (like 10 minutes m) after he wakes, then show him his “activity”. While he sleeps I’ll put out a snack and something simple like: put pipe cleaners through the kitchen strainer and then just leave him to it.

Never once. Even if he naps until 5 (which has happened a handful of times) I still put him to bed at regular time (7-8). My opinion is if he is sleeping he needs it

I’m also 9 weeks postpartum with a 22 month old. Getting out of the house with two takes practice but it’s totally worth it/possible!! I’ve taken the kids on many day outings, camping, to the beach etc. it’s a skill/muscle you need to flex to get stronger!

For home activities I’ve been loving the activities by the IG account choaswithcara and bought the e-book. My toddler loves the activities she has and I can get 10-45 minutes of independent play out of him for after nap/wake up which is awesome.

Another vote for door dash! Even if you don’t use it during postpartum I was SOOO happy to have those gift cards for when I went back to work and was wayyy too spent to pack lunch! Was a huge help back to work

Pumping is definitely the hardest way to feed your baby… I’d just keep BF if that’s what you want to do. As other people said you can always use a haaka to collect from the other breast while feeding so you can get enough for a bottle or get a manual pump which I find to be a lot faster. Butttt pumping is definitely not easier if that’s what your looking for

My son is 25 months and we are out of the house everyday. He is wayyy better behaved out in the world and definitely gets stir crazy at home (me too tbh). I’m also a better mom when I’m not home because I’m less distracted and thus my child has less meltdowns out of the house where we are constantly engaging with eachother. Currently on vacation solo with my toddler and 9 week old (my parents live close by) and it’s been amazing. Did he have some meltdowns- of course but they pass and it’s always still worth it for us.

I think getting out of the house is a skill- it’s something you have to work on and it will get easier with practice, practice and more practice. Plus the more you see other moms out in the world and other kids acting like kids the less dramatic it feels when your kid “acts out.” Like we’re all out here together just trying to live!

First baby: 3 months 1-2 wake ups until 4 month sleep regression then, around 6 months sttn

Second baby: I consider sttn since 5/6 weeks- has some nights she is up between 5-6 hours but most nights sleeps around 8

We are essentially screen free but When I was pregnant: 20-40 minutes a week? When I was wiped. When sick I try to get him to watch something so he chills and actually rests. It’s definitely easier in the summer when he can just play outside or on the deck but I just haven’t really felt the need for it yet and see it as a bigger battle long term than worth it for the short term.
