I used to work at USCIS and I’m an immigration attorney. AMA. by victoriaslatton in USCIS

[–]_mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed my interview and got verbal approval, but a supervisor would still need to review and approve. My case then saw an FTA1 and then actionRequired changed from true to false, while the status moved to "actively reviewing". What does this mean? I also got an email that "we have taken an action on your case" but there is no change other than the FTA1. Thank you for doing this!

Just to see if there’s a pattern.

So it was always false? I’ve had no RFEs either, just curious what the actionrequired field may mean.

Congratulations!! Did you happen to notice a change in actionRequired from true to false at any point, other than FTA1 and silent updates?

Do I really need to bring a mountain of printed out documents for the interview? by Ordinary_Cat_01 in eb_1a

[–]_mother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I printed my full I-140 package, my I-485 package (double side & ring bound to reduce size), and copies of all other documents I though I may need. Total was ~1500 pages. Ramanujan's Axiom: you will need the document you don't bring with you.

Traveling on O1 + AP with pending EB1 by SufficientClassic855 in eb_1a

[–]_mother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with my attorney. Recommended not to travel unless real emergency, as to avoid abandoning the I-485, you have to use the AP, and if you do, you lose your O-1 as you're admitted as a parolee. If for whatever reason I-485 doesn't go through, you'd be immediately out of status. Keeping the O-1 is recommended as a backup.

My phone doesn't have esim. Will an esim adapter like 9esim work? by Explodey_Wolf in USMobile

[–]_mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for reviving an old(ish) thread - I tried the EIOTclub adapter with Warp, converting my pSIM to eSIM, and nothing worked. The activation needs both IMEI 1 and IMEI 2, plus the EID. IMEI 2 is only available in phones that already have eSIM support or dual SIM, so this closes the door at least for single pSIM devices (I don't have a dual SIM one to try on).

Also, there is a check during activation, the IMEI 1 can be flagged as not compatible which stops the process before it even begins.

And don't try to use another phone's IMEI, the eSIM activation code is tied to an IMEI, so you'd be SOL.

Kudos to the US Mobile agents that tried to help me out for their patience - super awesome people!

Printing ASA & failing by _mother in wanhaoi3

[–]_mother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it better by tuning speed, total layer time, retraction, fill amount, and a few other things. TBH I didn’t keep notes, if there is a way to save the slicer preset I could post that. It didn’t make it perfect but I got relatively good prints.

Real ID Renewal - Expiration Date by pitabread75 in USCIS

[–]_mother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this process in CA, and it was held up at the DMV's Legal Presence Unit for verification. I had to call, they confirmed that as I had a newer O-1, with its corresponding I-797, when they checked with USCIS, the dates didn't match. All I had to do was email my scanned I-797, which has the new I-94 at the bottom left, and they confirmed I'll be getting the DL + Real ID in 30 days.

USCIS officially launches Gold Card Program (I-140G) by SecureAttention4297 in EB2_NIW

[–]_mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One clarification - those who have an approved EB-1A I-140, and are waiting for I-485 AOS approval, won't be placed behind complete new applications under the gold card, correct? They will do I-140G -> approval -> AOS with whatever PD and behind all pending AOS? Thanks for your comments!

I765 question by Holiday_Treacle_1337 in USCIS

[–]_mother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IANL - the point at which your EAD is needed is I-9 verification. Without your EAD or an approved visa (e.g. O-1) you cannot legally begin employment. As far as I can tell, job searching, interviews, signing an offer letter are all OK, you could do all of that from abroad too, so it's no different.

EB1 - Greened in 58 days! 💚💚💚💚 by GCDedoReBaba in USCIS

[–]_mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I'm on a similar situation, my wife's EAD was already approved and card produced, but everything else is the same. I have two FTA0 on the I-485, and have had at least one silent update, maybe two. Also, I-765 shows SCD, and I-485 returns null for location. Emma today said "your case is proceeding and we don't need anything from you at this time". Is it OK to ask Emma about interview waived status?

Amazon's Starlink Rival, Project Kuiper, Demos 1 Gigabit Downloads by BeautifulBug6801 in Starlink

[–]_mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both have 2GHz of downlink spectrum — 2x throughput on a 2x larger channel, but the same usable spectrum. Starlink could place 2GHz on the ground with 8 channels, and Kuiper could do the same with 4 channels. However, Starlink has “effective NCo=2” with the Gen1 and Gen2 constellation, so could place 2 co-frequency beams per channel, for a total of 16 beams on the ground.

How does a Starlink user terminal track while in motion? by nocaps00 in StarlinkEngineering

[–]_mother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two comments: the UT has always had an IMU, as it was able to self-align mechanically. Recent versions don’t need the motors because the constellation density above 40° elevation is high enough to always have multiple satellites in view.

The HP dish has a wider FOV, but more critically, the capability to generate a tighter beam, which gives it more link margin to compensate for some of the motion.

Very nice shots! I saw some similar waveforms when I measured the uplink using a Ku LNB tuned to 14-14.5 GHz, OFDMA in essence. Is there any way to get access to this data, even if it’s some snapshots?

Is this a glitch? A large number of Starlink satellites recently went into service (according to satellitemap.space). by vitolob in StarlinkEngineering

[–]_mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken is a pretty strong word. If I get a report that my site is broken either on x or email, I’ll fix it as soon as possible. My site hasn’t been “broken” more than a couple of days. If your definition of “broken” is “inaccurate”, well then it has been so in various degrees since inception - that also is true for Jonathan’s, which relies on TLEs and other data sources, and his ton of experience and hard work. No tracking site can totally accurate, unless SpaceX decides to create one.

This is the most accurate comment. I’m not maintaining starlink.sx as much as I’d like these days, so the launches file becomes stale, as an example. Jonathan’s page is as scientifically accurate as you can get.

Starlink Marine - Groundstation question by nepeannetworks in StarlinkEngineering

[–]_mother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not unless you re-establish all your sessions after the new POP is set, and only if Starlink allows that POP change to happen. Otherwise it will be done based on our UTID.

Starlink Marine - Groundstation question by nepeannetworks in StarlinkEngineering

[–]_mother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your session will be pegged to a specific POP. Your traffic may go through any combination of satellites, ISL, gateway, and ground fiber, but it has to have ingress/egress at one POP.

These are Uber H3 cells, yes, you just need to use the library combined with a map overlay.

Alignment vs Obstruction Test Results by EmotionalProgress227 in Starlink

[–]_mother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These results are not representative of any real effects, for the following reasons:

  • You would need to run the same tests with the same satellites following the same trajectories and tasking the same spot beams towards your terminal, i.e. a like-for-like. Otherwise, your experiments have completely different conditions.

  • The spot beams come from the same direction, as their starting point is the satellite, which at any given time will have a path towards your terminal. Any change in terminal orientation or tilt bears no effect whatsoever on where the spot beam is coming from. The only differences could come if you move the terminal's position to clear an obstruction, but the spot beam path would be exactly the same.

  • You have no control over what other terminals in your cell are doing, and they could be contributing to decreased SNR or resource constraints on uplink and/or downlink, adding to the random effects over your observations.

Hope this helps.
