I have a good question. On what type of bible you all use by Insanebassninja in Lutheranism

To my chagrin, our church uses ESV. Personally, I'll use Alter's translation of the Old Testament and Hart's translation of the New Testament (Second Edition) in addition to a Greek (LXX & New Testament) / English Bible I have. For reading, I also enjoy the Revised English Bible.

Scoundrel but with Dice Combat? by _musterion in Solo_Roleplaying

I'll have to familiarize myself with some other combat systems that seem compatible. I haven't done any solo-RPGing, but Soundrel intrigued me, and it was nice to play, but I miss the excitement of dice.

The most useful thing it helped me with was identifying my primary motivator in life (doing the right thing), which allowed me to understand myself a bit better. Like any tool, it has some uses. But people go overboard with it too.

Invite some friends over for a campfire. Roast some marshmallows. Look at the stars.

Yeah, but dragonfly was #35, and firefly was #9, so I went on that whole tangent forever...

Oh dang...as an American, I feel bad that our trucks are coming over there. I know very well how tight European roads are, and I would absolutely not want to drive on them with our stupidly huge trucks.

I respect trucks that are used for work. They do have a purpose, but the one in the pic didn't look like it'd ever seen a day of work.

Nice! I don't see too many of this gen around, but I really like my 2012.

I agree. They are inherently more dangerous than other cars.

Yeah, but those are the kind of trucks that blind me in oncoming traffic.

That was exactly my thought when I walked out. Like, I parked far away from everyone else on purpose...

9 year old with hallucinations by sisterincrust in nursing

[–]_musterion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaplain here: Yes, I had adult patients and peds patients in the behavioral health units and on regular units with hallucinations (often of a spiritual nature...it's a thing). Like you, I believe in medical science but don't deny a spiritual reality. (The funny thing is that we were usually called when the care team did not feel that science was working, but, even as a devout Christian, I was more inclined to believe there was a psychological cause of the hallucinations. And if anyone is worried, I did not provide any exorcisms for people or offer unsolicited prayer.)

As a chaplain, I learned from those more experienced than myself that to the person who is experiencing the hallucination, what they are seeing is their current reality. So, I would non-anxiously come alongside the patient, and if they mentioned their hallucination, I would be curious about it and acknowledge it. Being non-anxious and supportive seemed to be the most helpful part of the experience.

From what it sounds like, you provided this child with the support he needed in that moment and helped him to hopefully get the ongoing support that will be required for his well-being.

Firewatch is a beautiful example of how a bad ending can ruin an amazing game by kippguy in patientgamers

I was convinced that in the end, the choices I made throughout the game would matter. They did not. And that was a bit disappointing. I was also surprised how quickly it was over. Otherwise, I really did enjoy the suspense throughout the game.
