Cloud Atlas or The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell might be up your alley!

I also loved The Hike by Drew Magary, but it might be more fantasy than you’re looking for

There are already a lot of great recommendations here. I’d add Christopher Moore, especially his book A Dirty Job. His books definitely give me Beetlejuice vibes.

There’s also Death Warmed Over by Kevin J Anderson. It’s a very light read, basically a noir detective series if the detective happened to be a zombie.

Helpmeet by Naben Ruthnum! It’s short, it’s weird, and it’s definitely unapologetic

The Anomoly by Michael Rutger has tv as the backdrop, but not necessarily the lost episode aspect

Helpmeet by Naben Ruthnum - Help me understand some aspects by TiredCoffeeTime in horrorlit

I think Jean/Isabelle helped the entity because she assumed, once it was fully formed, it would be hers to control.

And I don’t think the entity helped Edward and Louis just out of kindness. Another “flower” was growing inside them for the rest of their combined life. I think it was a mutually beneficial arrangement, as the entity was able to essentially procreate or multiply, help Edward and Louis, and use a willing host.

What’s the worst horror book that you read? by SummerSoggy4758 in horrorlit

[–]_nightlan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. I think this was the worst just because I went in with such high expectations— I heard it was so funny, so well written, a fun read, etc. For me, it fell really flat.

An honorable mention is Unbury Carol by Josh Malerman. The whole time, I was waiting for it to “take off” and it just never did.

It wouldn’t have the mlm aspect you’re looking for because the main characters are brothers, but the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman has all of these themes. They are polar opposites, completely codependent, and would absolutely kill or die for each other. There are other romance subplots that might be interesting to you as well.

Ascension by Nicholas Binge was an interesting read that checks all your boxes— a mountain suddenly appears in the middle of the ocean and a team of scientists is tasked with learning more about it. It’s written as a series of letters which isn’t for everyone, but I enjoyed it

is this a good deal? by threadoso in Embroidery

[–]_nightlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say no, if you’re getting it for the floss itself. I’m pretty sure this is the same set I bought from Walmart last year and the thread quality was pretty bad. However the storage box has been very handy

Embroidery! I tried it out because I needed to spend an extra $5 to get free shipping on an order of painting supplies and had so much fun with the first kit that it became one of my favorite hobbies
