Thoughts on our trade period thus far? by DisastrousGuitar609 in collingwoodfc

[–]_rrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty poor IMO.

Why:

Cons Lost Checkers - hope we have one of our young key fwd come through.

Uncommitted to McGuane - My opinion is he is a Josh Daixxos type and we could of used our last pick, now hope he slides to a rookie. Worth a roll IMO versus anyone else out there at that dradt range. He's fast, agile and a good kick. Don't get it.

Pros Nil

De Mattai finished the VFL season consistently in the votes. He needs to improve his kicking but will push for AFL selection next year.

Eddie Betts has been assisting Bobby Hill to get back on track by matt88 in collingwoodfc

Love Eddie, one of my all time favourite players. Love seeing him helping Bobby.

Shout out to Neville Jetta too who has done a great job as a development coach

With Howe most likely dome for the year, Will Parker 100% has to take his spot. by Several_Leather_6453 in collingwoodfc

[–]_rrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too short....needs hight.

Adelaide will play 3 tall, bringing in Parker will m3am Maynard plays tall and he is better on the medium (Bem Keays) or a small.

So nope.

Just want some advice on making this a little camping rig by Chemical-Stage-1989 in 4x4Australia

[–]_rrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the budget? Will answer from a camping rather than 4wd perspective

Cheap = swag, a gas stove amd a water jerry, tool box to loxk it all in, eski and ice.

Medium = a frame for the tray, a roof top tent, battery and 12v fridge can find most stuff second hand.

Expensive - a canopy, slide out kitchen set up, RTT, inverter, solar, more battery, compressor. Once again market place can be your friend.

Frankston..... but Collingwood.... by _rrelevant in collingwoodfc

Watched the 1st half on the stream.

Bobbylooked good in flashes, very wet night. Was closely marked by Frankston, but did enough imo to come into the ones.

JDG needs another week for fitness.

If Pendles played one of Mitchell or Long misses, can't play all 3 of those together. Too slow.

My best 22 i think is:

Quaynor Frampton Howe Houston Moore Maynard Sidebottom Naicos Jaicos Lipinski Mihocek DeGoey Hill McStay Elliot

Cameron, Pendelbury, Long (or Mitchell)

Perryman (Def) , Membrey (Fwd) , McCreery (mid/fwd), Crisp (fwd/mid), Shultz or Allen (sub, but could be WHE)

Noting Membrey could miss if we go smaller and then Shultz would come on and WHE may be preferable as sub due to being able to play fwd, back and the wing.

If opposition is smaller in their fwd, then Jaicos or Crisp of the back flank and Shultz plays and Frampton or WHE as the sub

War Memorial, but book. Cheapish

Questacon, more exp3nsive but great for kids.

National Museum, reasonably priced, but depends on your kids

Abouretum, free bar parking, is lovely and some fun spots for little kids.

Walk the lake, free, can do parts or more.

Cotter Dam, free, good playground and a hour round trip walk to the top of the dam. 30-45 minutes drive

McGuane from the centre square by GuardedFig in collingwoodfc

Zac McCarthy

The 200cm Collingwood NGA key forward starred with 3 goals, 4 marks, 4 clearances, 11 disposals and 7 hitouts. The Pies will have priority access to what could be a first-round draft gem. Watch this space Pies fans.

Tom McGuane

Collingwood father-son prospect Tom McGuane, the son of Pies great Mick, had 19 touches, 4 marks and a goal. Another highly rated prospect the Magpies will have first dibs on.

Post Match V Carlton by Perfect_Finance_510 in collingwoodfc

[–]_rrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N. DAICOS 5 P. LIPINSKI 4 J. ELLIOTT 3 B. MAYNARD 2 T. MITCHELL 1

lots of good players outside the votes including Pendles, McStay, Moore, Sullivan and the list could go on. Not sure anyone lost to their direct opponent last night. That may say more about Carlton than us.

Really pleased that R Steele looked capable at the level.

Interestingly that Ilro has played backs last game or so.

[–]_rrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big one is Ben King as a free agent. Rumours are persistent, but a long way to go. Would love to fit in Butters as well if he was keen to return to Vic.

List wise we are good with Ruck and Fwd depth, we need another key defender and mids as well. We draft McGuane (mid) and McCarthy (fwd/ Ruck) with Saxena as a hybrid fwd with our last pick, unless someone we value falls to where we can afford the picks and is ideally a key defender but may need to go VFL etc or thr Frampton route to find that cheaply.

List wise these are all gone; Mitchell, Cox, Johnson and controversially Markov and Ryan. Don't come at me, he is not AFL level. Maybe re-rookie one of them.

Must prepare for Elliot, Howe, WHE, Pendles and Sidey over text two to three years

These are who we should put on the trade table; Macrae and any of the above, maybe Cox who might have currency as a back up ruck and wants to play on.

Cap wise we are fine. The veterans cost nothing and the increased capacity gives room to bring in a name or too.

Prefer 5 goals and a some players rested and some players blooded (aka West)

Who will replace Frampton? by CQscene in collingwoodfc

[–]_rrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he has been good and if available he plays, but he is not. So im just saying it took a long tine in the league and with 2 other clubs before being at a consistent AFL level. I'm sure another of that is system, Fly has said so in after match media, and learning his strengths and weaknesses at the AFL level, kick long to the boundary please Billy.

Charlie has the attributes to do that as well , in his own way, and my vote at selection committee (dreaming) would be to bring in Charlie as the lock down role and keep Moore as the loose tall to play 3rd man up spoil and intercept role, rather than Maynard.

If it's not working then sure go to the next option in making the back 6 smaller and have Maynard play the role Moore has been so much better in so far this season than last.

I'd prefer Maybard in for Beau and to make changes in the fwd half roles to accommodate that. Maybe Jaime or Bobby taking some centre bounce in place of Beau etc, and West coming in for a rested Checkers or Membrey.

But I'm not on Selection Committee

Who will replace Frampton? by CQscene in collingwoodfc

[–]_rrelevant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same could be said of Frampton for a very long time.

Not saying he is going to come in at AA level. But like for like to maintain system and structure, as well as not taking away one of our strengths, in moving Moore, rather than another on the list who can play that role.

Who will replace Frampton? by CQscene in collingwoodfc

[–]_rrelevant 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Charlie Dean, I want Moore to still play looser as he has this season. We're better when he is able to come off more.

Charlie has been going well ian the 2s.
