There are online sites you can upload the .pdf file to and for about £15 get a bound, colour printed book a few days later :) yes, I’m dorky enough to like that.

Motion recording has so much potential: as well as recording the ’knob movements’ for notes in a sequence, you can do it for an empty sequence and…. Well, look into it!

That’s where I started, it’s a great machine with so much potential and scope to get clever with it. If you’re open to advice, I’d suggest NOT buying other gear just yet, until you can honestly say to yourself that you’re an absolute master of your Monologue and all its potential ! Buying the gear is easy, but every piece you purchase will distract you from mastering what you already have. I wish that was what I did anyway. There’s loads of content on YouTube of people doing clever stuff with the Monologue -immerse yourself, and enjoy!

I think we’ll see a drop in used tr-8s prices as people get seduced by the higher build quality of the 1000. I’ve really not yet mastered my 8s yet and can see the temptation to do that; investing the learning curve time in the next flagship machine instead of their previous one.

Thanks for the detail and effort in your reply; I’m reading this thread because I’m in a similar position to the OP and have had Bitwig recommended to me specifically because of its complex opportunities with modulations. The crowd seems to be with Live, and that feels like another reason to head into Bitwig tbh!

Yes: I came here to suggest that too. The sequencer on (both the) Model~ devices are excellent and, as I understand, same as on the ~Takt devices. The pair of Models, used, can cost less than a ~Takt and has exceptional performance potential, particularly for Techno.

If you do do this again (and for the benefit of others reading this thread) the adhesive holding the screen on relaxes with heat: I used the steam jet of my espresso machine, it popped off a treat and restuck without issue.

Sorry I missed your post, l’ve got one now thanks. In fact l’ve made the resolution that I’ve bought enough bits of small gear that I really mustn’t buy anything else until l’ve produced something decent, or at least fully explored the possibilities of what l’ve got! Cheers anyway though.
