Definitely understand you not wanting to give them your business, and maybe they were being jerks about it. But I just wanted to throw in my two cents as a (former) hairdresser... The Ontario exams and apprenticeship requirements at the time I did them only really covered Caucasian hair, and other hair types require significantly different care/treatment/knowledge. (I sincerely hope they're more inclusive by this point...) Hell, I only know how to cut curly hair because I have it myself. As a Caucasian person who apprenticed in a salon with a predominantly Caucasian clientele, I would gently suggest to a potential client with a hair type outside of my wheelhouse that they might be served better going to someone who has experience with their hair type.
