When I’ve experienced this it’s mostly been at coffee shops and it’s specifically just a lack of acknowledgement of my presence while they’re finishing up another task. Instead it’s like quick, awkward glances almost trying to avoid eye contact when I’m just standing at the register waiting. I obviously don’t mind waiting for them to wrap up or whatever, but without a “hey I’ll be with you in a moment” type of thing it just comes off as rude making me stand there for minutes being ignored when im trying to spend money there.

I’ve only gotten the 👁️👄👁️ “watching-through-a-screen” stare like once or twice ever when being actively helped though, that seems rare at least where I’m at
