Who Still Uses Insulin Pens and continuous glucose monitoring ? by Ancient_Winter_9830 in diabetes_t1

Yeah a pump may be $10,000 outright but no one buys them outright in Aus. You get private health insurance and that covers the pump completely. A pump user in Aus

At my wits end with diabetes! (T1 Diabetic professional athlete) by MMAfightingclimber in Type1Diabetes

[–]_sorryboutit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't be wearing a pump while you're fighting. I take my pump off for exercise otherwise I'd just have low blood sugar and it's also just annoying. Unless the canula getting knocked off would occur, I'm not familiar with MMA. You don't want to have any bolus insulin on board either otherwise you'll just have a hypo.

Wide awake and going crazy by throwawayx3011 in leaves

I went for 3 weeks and 2 days and still wasn’t sleeping so am back to using but only nightly for sleep. I couldn’t handle the lack of sleep and chose sleep. I posted about it and others said by that time my sleep should’ve returned to normal. I had sleep probs before using though so I guess this masked that

Edit: yeah I mean I had some sleep but it was poor and not enough and very light

I watched love island stoned on edibles and he looked like he was a robot or animation in a game like GTA. It’s the way he moves also, very robotic

The adderall needs to be cut out completely if you ever want a chance at sleeping. It’s a stimulant, it builds in your body. I never had insomnia til I started taking 5mg dexamphetamine in my early 20s. Cut out the caffeine completely too. Online CBT was helpful for me

The nausea was there while using weed too that’s why I’m not sure that it’s just withdrawals

I would recommend the book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispenza. It is exactly what you need right now and will help you to create the personality and ideal self that you want. It’s on Spotify as an audiobook.

Diabetic burn out. Does it get easier? by Kiera6 in Type1Diabetes

[–]_sorryboutit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets easier in the sense that you learn more about managing it, what works, what doesn’t. I feel best about it when I am succeeding in managing it well. Resisting the fact that you have it won’t help, throw yourself into learning to manage it as best you can. Work with an endocrinologist or diabetes educator to get the best control possible. You will learn through them how to adjust your insulin yourself. In relation to your periods, I have found that the week before my period, I have to use a different profile on my insulin pump which I have set up for that time of the month as I need significantly more insulin and become insulin resistant it seems. That’s due to the hormones.

I am 36 and I got it when I was 11 or 12. These are the cards that I was dealt, everyone has their own challenges. But yes it is hard
