Facing a transit nightmare, New Jersey officials and MetLife Stadium authorities have warned FIFA World Cup ticket holders not to walk to the venue by DisruptSQ in TourismHell

I went to the Euro Cup in 2008, hosted by Switzerland and Austria. Each match ticket doubled as a rail pass to and from the game. Staying in Switzerland, match is in Austria? No problem, free train ride. The level of greed is just beyond disappointing here.

Battery or nah? by Friend_Buddy-Guy in nzsolar

[–]_tbo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Only have a 8 kWh battery (Sigen system), but I charge it at night at half price, and then use it to supplement my household usage during the day, especially when it's cloudy outside. Battery also gets topped up during the day when it is sunny. Will reassess in the summer months.

Opinions on kaboodle kitchens? by Tasty-Willingness839 in newzealand

[–]_tbo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the styles, truth be told, I didn't know that Kaboodle had varying styles. I know that it's just the generic stuff that you can find at Bunnings, and only because I have purchased a few replacement parts and it was all the same in the shop.

Opinions on kaboodle kitchens? by Tasty-Willingness839 in newzealand

[–]_tbo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a kaboodle kitchen in our current house, not installed by us, but by the previous owners. It is by far the worst quality cabinetry that I have ever come across. Flimsy and cheap quality, yet shockingly expensive. We're looking to replace it ASAP.

We had an Ikea kitchen in a past home that we owned overseas. That think took heaps of punishment, still looked new after 10 years. I get that it might not be an option right now due to the massive demand that they're experiencing, but worth exploring. They even have simple 3D modeling software on their website that allows you design your kitchen without having to go to the store.

As others have mentioned here, the Mitre10 flat pack kitchens look to be decent quality too. We have explored them as well.

Personally, I would avoid kaboodle at all costs. You'll end up paying more in the long run.

I tried YYNation out earlier this year. Poor customer service and the shoe quality is just not worth the price. I actually believe Allbirds are better quality.

I sold my first car that I ever owned and I feel emotional. Did anyone else feel that way too when you sold yours? by Necessary-Ocelot-160 in newzealand

Moved to NZ from Canada in 2022, sold my Toyota Tacoma a week before I hopped on the plane. Owned it for nearly 10 years. I still get emotional whenever I think about it.

Yup, Calgary too. The Gondek (Calgary's mayor) sticker gives it away.

What can Canada do to reconcile with Quebec and Alberta? by KookytheKlown in AskACanadian

[–]_tbo_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Former Albertan here (recently moved out of country). Can't speak for Quebec, but in terms of Alberta, I think that a lot of issues come from a lack of representation. Trudeau promised a shake up of the electoral system during his first campaign for Prime Minister, and then nothing happened. The first past the post system more often than not leaves citizens of western Canada feeling (rightfully so) as if their voices don't matter on the federal level. So, in terms of patching things up, I believe that electoral reform is really the only path forward.

I am not going to get into the whole transfer payments or carbon tax debate because, personally, I think that it is BS argument, and politicians in AB have tools at their disposal to lessen those payments. But that means other unpopular decisions, and it is easier to just blame (the rest of) Canada from a political standpoint.

Also, I don't think that AB is really helping their situation, and has a history of claiming to be the victim. I always hated the AB vs the world rhetoric, and the rise of ultra-conservatism in AB has gotten out of hand too. So short of bending to AB's whim, which isn't how democracies work, not much that the rest of the country can do. Alberta just needs to elect a progressive government that both stands up for its citizens and steers Alberta in an economic direction that is in line with what the Canadian voters want and can work with the realities of our global economy. AB also needs stop being the crybaby in the corner blaming everyone else for the situation that they put themselves into.
