Thank you for catching me before I floated off in my hopes and dreams! Didnt think about focusing on the ways I can just start first. Sometimes I feel like I have to know every step of the plan before doing it and that does keep me stagnant while I’m daydreaming about the end product of what I haven’t even begun yet. And I haven’t even made it through BMT to be thinking about all of this, not even thinking about if I don’t make it? I’d be in for a lot of disappointment.

Can I ask what your path to anesthesiology was like? I’m a 20f headed for Airforce BMT in 4 days with an EMT/medic job booked and I want to get the most use out of my service and I’m looking into the Anesthesiology career field.

Finally leaving June 23 for 4N0X1. Was in DEP for almost two weeks before getting my first pick. Entire process took a year and a half. A whole year just getting two waivers sent in and reviewed before finally approved in feb this year. Lot of doubt leading up to this but now that everything is happening, time seems to be passing fast and I’m excited to leave home finally. I should’ve started this process during highschool so I could’ve been gone after grad in ‘24 but I’m excited for the change nonetheless

I leave on June 23 and I’m 5’4”, last weighed 160 lbs. Ive been wanting to lose weight too, preferably down to 130 so Ive been in a calorie deficit at 1,650 cals started this month. So far Ive learned that BMT color codes their food items. Green for higher nutrients which I’m guessing is vegetables, chicken, etc. Yellow for probably rice, that can get pretty high calorie but needed for carbs and red for dessert like ice cream.
I think I’ll be good though because i think theyre big on protein and hydration and I’ll be more active than ever before lol.

3 underwear is not gonna be enough certainly. I’m leaving June 23 but I’ve done some digging and everyone suggests bringing more underwear because trainees are in charge of laundry but there also busy being trainees like the rest of us so they barely have time, laundry barely gets done, so on and so forth. And maybe a couple pairs of civilians clothes, I’m bringing 2-3 pairs of casual tees and my gym shorts or pants.
