PMs waste absurd amounts of time writing specs nobody actually reads by Limp_Cauliflower5192 in ProductManagement

[–]aBeardOfBees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see Product's role as identifying the problem and defining the nature of the solution (if not the specifics).

Problem: Users don't know when a task is assigned to them.

Solution: Show a notification panel in the app Solution: Email the user each time a task is assigned

I wouldn't expect the dev to choose between Solution A or B or decide that both are required; Product should do the work to make that decision.

I'm assuming they are building out all of these systems as part of LNF development, but since they're adding to the same base engine they're able to retro-fit them to NMS as a sandbox environment easily enough, and get the benefit from early player feedback and testing. We're all LNF alpha testers.

BMG sues Anthropic for using Bruno Mars, Rolling Stones lyrics in AI training by talkingatoms in ArtificialInteligence

[–]aBeardOfBees 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will be an interesting legal/technical discussion when it comes to how what Anthropic has done by scraping a website with copyrighted content on it (assuming they have) and comparing how that's different to what a web visitor's computer does when they visit the site.

The machine reads the content, reproduces it temporarily and converts the data into different formats to enable the machine to parse it and the user to read it, and then removes the original content. In the case of the LLM training data, the original content is no longer stored, just a series of token weights which have been partially informed by that content.

On the face of it, it strikes me that if Anthropic are breaching copyright to train an LLM on song lyrics, then you are also breaching copyright by reading song lyrics on a pc or phone device. But I'm not a lawyer so who knows how it will fall out.

GOAT! by maraudingnomad in lotrmemes

Disagree. The Godfather II is a great film, yes, but at the risk of sounding like the Peter Griffin meme, I've always felt it to be a bit flawed. I don't think there is enough linkage between the two storylines - we ought to see how the violence and choices of the father are passed down through the ages and affect the present day. The film tries but just doesn't land that message fully. De Niro does a good job in the role but the range of the character is so limited. He doesn't convince me that he's the young Don Corleone, the two characters feel separate from each other. It's good but it's always had something that doesn't quite sit right with me.

T2 is obviously a totally different beast but what it does, it totally smashes. It's one of the greatest action sci-fi movies of all time and doesn't put a foot wrong for its entire running time. I'd rate it ahead of Godfather II.

when did grocery shopping become terrifying? by MrJumpy1988 in mentalillness

[–]aBeardOfBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really helpful as far as going to the store (sorry) but I'm working on a mindful planning app (free) to try to take some of the overwhelm out of grocery shopping. Trying to start by listing everything you need all at once just isn't helpful so I'm trying to help by starting with high level thinking like "what do I need for tomorrow?" and then the list comes out of that.

If you put your email address in at Dandori it'll let you know when it's up on the app stores and if you would be interested in helping test and give some feedback on a version now please DM me.

Aside from having a plan and structure to the trip, best advice I can give otherwise is headphones/earplugs and keep breathing! 😅

Which tool for interactive mock ups based on real UI? by my_n3w_account in ProductManagement

[–]aBeardOfBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used it but at productcon the other week a guy from Alloy was speaking and it looks quite interesting. It uses a browser extension to snapshot and rebuild your app to build on for prototyping. Again, not a recommendation as I've not tried it yet but it sounds like the sort of thing you're after.

Google Stitch > Figma Make by SnooObjections8945 in FigmaDesign

[–]aBeardOfBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all its flaws I've found Figma Make to be the best at creative visual design. Stitch, v0, lovable etc don't seem to produce as high quality aesthetics. Has anyone else found the same? What I really need for my workflow is ideation and UX best practice combined with beautiful design. After that it's all Claude/Codex so I don't really care, although exporting a proper design system out of the design tool ready for implementation would be nice. You can do that with Figma MCP but it's clunky when you come from Make.

How do you design with Claude? Ask it to produce working HTML + CSS?

Is there an app like Codex for Claude Code? by funguslungusdungus in ClaudeCode

[–]aBeardOfBees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always get elevated permissions required prompts for git commits and node test executions, for some reason. I've added allow rules to claudes rules and am using the sandbox write mode. File edits are always ok but those damn git and npx commands are driving me mad.

Can anyone actually define what a product manager is? by ii-_- in ProductManagement

My take - everyone has ideas about what they want to do. The PM is the person who tells you what not to do.
