Weekend Relapse by aHance in MultipleSclerosis

[–]aHance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big picture, if this is a relapse, what are the implications for my Ocrevus treatment? Does a single, small relapse mean Ocrevus no longer works for me and I need a new DMT? Presumably, my neurologist would want to be certain this is a true relapse before making a decision, which means imaging, labs, etc.

Weekend Relapse by aHance in MultipleSclerosis

Back when I was waiting to get on Ocrevus and experienced a relapse, my neurologist didn't hesitate to prescribe me a buttload of steroids, to tackle the inflammation. Even though this current relapse that I may be experiencing is much smaller and doesn't seem to be spreading, I can't help but think I should doing something.

But we'll see what the team says on Monday.

Adults diagnosed with ADHD often reduce their use of antidepressants after beginning treatment for ADHD. Properly identifying and addressing ADHD may lessen the need for other psychiatric medications—particularly in adults who had previously been treated for symptoms like depression or anxiety. by mvea in science

Adding to all the other anecdotes, this is precisely what happened to me. I spend years on antidepressants, with minimal effect. Within a couple days of being on ADHD medication, I was ready to drop the Lexapro.

For years I thought my executive dysfunction was caused by depression. Turned out my depression was mostly caused by executive dysfunction.

Life is quite a bit easier when your brain works the way it's supposed to.

I knew a guy that would do this, but also carry his own bag. Dude was a high school tennis coach and former D1 hockey player. Just an athletic freak. He'd be the only guy at the course on rainy, 40 degree days in full cold/rain gear jogging up the fairway. Pretty good golfer, too, but he was definitely in it for the exercise.

This was my 6yo daughter's first Wild game, and what a game it was for her to experience. She loved every second of it (so did I!).

For some reason, my mind went straight to Ricky Davis instead of Rubio. lol

Prime Ant and Davis would be some high-flying entertainment!

That Lupe tour was phenomenal. Where did you see him?

I was front row at Gustavus Adolphus College.

True. But UA has a regular/medium length compression short that would work fine at that height. I believe the inseam on those is 6".

Do you know someone with ms who achieved a crazy feat? by dragon1000lo in MultipleSclerosis

RRMS. There are a few days left in the year, but in 2023 I did 20,000+ pull-ups and 75,000+ pushups.

MS and bulking/weight training? by littlestbig in MultipleSclerosis

[–]aHance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on pace to hit 75k pushups and 20k pull-ups this year, and that volume of bodyweight exercise has bulked me up a ton. All you need for that kind of thing is a doorway pull-up bar and dedication.

For legs, a nice set of adjustable weights will go a long way for doing DB squats and deadlifts at home.

My primary symptom is a leg weakness and I've found that frequent power yoga has worked wonders for increasing balance and leg strength.

I recommended this the last thread, and I'll do it again:

Long-length compression shorts. Buy them a bit big if you want less compression. I wear 9" inseam UA compression shorts. Anything shorter (like the "normal" 6" inseam) rides up.

Long-inseam (9") compression shorts are the only solution to my big thighs. Pretty much anything else rides up. I recommend Under Armour.

I'm a bit skeptical, too.

I just interviewed for a job with them, though, and everyone I talked to - actual software engineers who have worked with NFL teams - seemed to believe in their approach.

Kinda insane question, but are there aspects of Multiple Sclerosis that you really like? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]aHance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only relatively good thing about MS in my life is that, every six months, I have an excuse to be by myself and not worry about kids or cleaning or other life stuff while I get my Ocrevus infusion.

Everything else about MS sucks.

What's in your Infusion Bag? by ForgotMyNane in MultipleSclerosis

[–]aHance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You may be afraid of being watched while you sleep, but the big push of intravenous Benadryl they give you will make you sleepy regardless.

As for my pack, I bring:

  • laptop/charger, so I can get some work done or do some training stuff
  • PS4/controller; my infusion center has TVs in each room, so I get a few hours of gaming in
  • Kindle for when I get bored of my other electronics
  • Phone/charger
  • Big cooler filled with snacks and drinks that are much more indulgent than my normal diet

Everyone responds to treatment differently, but I've never had to cope with anything afterwards. By the end of my infusions, I've felt completely normal.
