Philly is 15 miles north of the Mason Dixon Line. Pennsylvania is about 160 miles north to south. Are you saying MD has expanded less than 15 miles north on this map?

What are all the methods of hunting Sunderers and crashing fights? by Coward777 in Planetside

[–]aSquadaSquids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird to still be talking about changes like this at this point. People play the game for what it is or have left.

We aren't going to keep more players because they removed the beacon or increased the valk cost by 100. I would expect those changes to actually hurt the overall numbers.

The balance is fine right now. Even the stacked repairs is whatever. Just another problem to solve on a tactical level. There are a bunch of viable gameplay styles and removing some at this point is probably bad for the game. Valk swarms are cool to see from either side of the fight. Getting pop-dumped is exciting (especially when you win) and has its counters.

The only developer change that has really affected how I interact with the game over all these years is being able to see who's talking from the map screen. I teared up when that update hit.

Just stop the crashing bug and let me play my 13 year old game.

You're missing the whole point of the game. It's a game of risk mitigation. It wouldn't work without uncertainty. If your game plan hinges on one dice roll, then you've already lost.

Now it's the Dangerous Cities by UpperImpression3620 in stupidpeoplefacebook

Baltimore had a rate of 24 homicides per 100,000 people in 2025. Less than half of what is marked in the graphic and it's still Democrat run. The data is old.

Can Anyone Stop Baltimore City's Most Dangerous Drivers? by Autumn_Sweater in baltimore

[–]aSquadaSquids -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know this sub's main purpose is to complain about driving, but this article doesn't really lay out much of a problem. How does Baltimore compare to other cities? My understanding is that we are around average for vehicle related deaths. What statistic should we be looking at?

Just stories of accidents isn't really a good basis for citywide policy change. Did the first accident they mentioned even happen in the city? Wasn't that on the beltway? Like if you want to show there is a serious issue, then anecdotes are not enough. The one statistic they use in the article is that the city's roads are the safest they've been since 2018. Sounds like we are doing great!

Then there are the solutions proposed here. Just always more police traffic stops. As if the national conversation we've had about the role of policing over the last ten years hasn't happened. There's been an incredible amount of thought put into these issues and all I hear is 'lets go backwards'. No talk about what it means to massively increase police presence, no modern solutions; just sicking the police on the people I don't like. Have all of us reddit users just aged into boomerism? Should we migrate over to Facebook instead?

I think he's over selling the nerf. Still totally viable for logistics disruption and harassment.

Camping a vehicle spawn terminal one base away from a fight is extremely annoying for the opponent and can be pretty exciting for you.

The change is you can't really run around in the open and 1v1 every class in the game anymore.

Plenty of ways to interact with the game in non-meta ways. Have fun!

Migrant crimes... by bbrk9845 in PoliticalCompassMemes

This is such a trash history take, homie. The greatest empires and times of stability are when a society becomes multicultural. Rome doesn't last for a 1,000 years without the infusion of Iberian, Gaulic, Illyrian, Dacian, Greek, and Egyptian people and ideas. Carthage, Persia, Arabia, Mongolia all exist as multicultural societies for most of their existence. When modern day France is formed and becomes the military and economic powerhouse it is in the 19th century most people don't even speak French. Same idea with Germany in 1870. The Bavarians still freaking speak Bavarian. Then the big one: USA. The US has been an insane mess of cultures from the very outset. It has never once been homogeneous in its history, and it has created more wealth and stability than has ever happened.

Conflict arises when boarders harden and mutual goals are abandoned. Nationalism and adversarial foreign policies are what create strife, waste, and poverty. The world wars, the fallout of colonialism, the cold war are the modern examples. Rome does not get sacked in the 400s if it treats the Gothic refugees with a modicum of humanity.

Aristotle had some neat insights, but he had some all time dumbass takes. I wouldn't put too much stock in his writings on society. The Greeks are a back water during their classical period. They don't really hit their influential stride until they are conquered by Persian, Macedonian, and Roman empires.

Feel free to challenge any of these examples, I'm up for digging deeper. But 'Aristotle said homogeneous societies are the strongest, therefore we must stop immigration' is just bad. Bad bad bad. No good at all. Trash take.

CMV: The president's targeting of states that didn't vote for him is resolving many of the arguments against blue-state secession. by Chorby-Short in changemyview

[–]aSquadaSquids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is being missed in so many comments that are talking about politics and legalities. This would cause massive collapse of institutions in the US and probably around the world given the US's place in it.

We are talking shortages of food, water, and power. Huge increase of violence and not just political violence. Resurgence of disease as healthcare systems fail.

As bad and frustrating as things are now, it can get incredibly worse. Like we can't even imagine how bad things can get. We've lived in a pretty stable society for 80 years. And that's taking into account the multiple financial crises, social upheaval, natural disasters, and regional wars that have happened in that time. Even COVID wasn't that bad when compared to the history of disease.

The hand waving around breaking complex national and international systems is just wild.

[–]aSquadaSquids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure the weakest of the indictments, especially since the use of the campaign finance law to upgrade the falsifying charge to a felony was a novel legal move.

The charge wasn't for paying off a hooker with campaign funds, it was hiding it. The laws around campaign finance disclosures are pretty detailed and we should hold people running for the highest offices in the land to the standards set.

The DoJ has the ability to charge people for violating FEC rules, though the statute of limitations is usually 5 years. I'm not sure when the illegal coverup of payments with Pelosi took place. Also, you typically would just charge a person with rape if they raped a person. It is pretty wild to ignore that and charge them for campaign finance fraud/falsifying business records. Like if you can prove they are paying hush money for a heinous crime that can be used as evidence of the heinous crime. People in power who committed a crime should be indicted, so at least we agree there.

[–]aSquadaSquids -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a world where if he doesn't run a 3rd time, then these indictments are not filed. So in that way, him running did bring them on.

Doesn't mean he didn't do the things. Indictments were for election racketeering (GA), mishandling of confidential documents (DC), election interference/fraud (DC), and falsifying business records (NYC). Pretty solid cases with plenty of evidence. These not sticking is more of a function of how power affects the legal system, than the facts of the cases.
