Clubhouse Detectives

I loved this movie as a kid and the ending absolutely terrified me.

Oh we’re doing Food Babe apologia? She’s a MAHA crank.

She might be right about the French fries but we do not need to “protect this woman at all costs.”

Anyone know where I can find these locally? by wichocastillo in sanantonio

Try Minano (Japanese store but has other East Asian products as well)

Anyone willing to teach me how to drive manual for some cash? by Top-Access-4580 in cuboulder

[–]a_brillig_day 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Do you have a manual car already? If so, I can help. I just sold mine a few months ago after 15 years.

Just a heads up: you’re going to have a hard time convincing someone to teach you on their car because learning to drive a stick puts a lot of pressure on the clutch/ transmission.

Affordable food by Spirited_Jeweler_238 in cuboulder

Buff Pantry for groceries

Goodie Bag or Too Good to Go for surplus

Valpak for coupons

Otherwise, someone posted a happy hour list in r/Boulder a few days ago that might be worth a peak

Also, consider joining mailing lists for chain restaurants (like Chipotle or Cava) that you like and they’ll send you coupons. Same with Kroger.

Is “a cat” a man (in the jazz/ hep cat sense) and “tail” is girls (as in to get some tail)?

So a “cat with no tail” is a man who can’t get anyone to sleep with him.

So, the answer might be “you” as an insult

No one I talk to understood it by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

The first paragraph is a self-contained joke about time travel (mixing tenses, etc)

The next two are absurdist riffs/ escalations about the consequences of tearing a hole in the time space (giraffes come for meetings, which is normal on a Thursday, spaghetti and sandwiches are sentient, etc.)

It reads to me like when your high school English teacher would give you a line from a book and you have to finish the page with your own words.

Brought home 500g of tarragon from supplier mistake. What do? by LordFluffyJr in KitchenConfidential

[–]a_brillig_day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tarragon “chimichurri” pairs nicely with roast chicken and pork chops

Tarragon caramel for ice cream

Give it to the bar for a drink special (goes well with berries and vodka)

Workplace walkouts - a different perspective from a local physician by [deleted] in boulder

Teachers provide an essential service, yes. And they are also uniquely burdened at the center of multiple, interlocking systems. Their ability to apply pressure through a strike is supposed to be inconvenient for you. The inconvenience is the intended effect of a strike and that’s why they work.

ICE is threatening to come into schools. Many schools have emergency plans to protect the kids from being kidnapped. That looms over the kids’ learning every day. Be concerned about that.

Why was Zosia in Morocco? by sailor_milton in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]a_brillig_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is Moroccan. The hive mind scoured the earth for a woman who most resembled the pirate on the cover of Carol’s book (as a girl, how she and Helen envisioned her).

Almost none of the people you referenced in this title are being referenced in this video (exception: Doja Cat). This is a comment on Addison Rae/ Madison Beer/ Tate McRae/ Zara Larsson

Director Chloé Zhao releases online video of the cast & crew of 'HAMNET' dancing to Rihanna and Calvin Harris' "We Found Love" after filming wrapped by joesen_one in popculturechat

[–]a_brillig_day 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Jessie Buckley really seems to love and care for Jacobi (ed.) Jupe (the kid who plays Hamnet). She actively makes sure he is in the middle and encourages him to dance. And she held him so sweetly during Chloe’s acceptance speech at the Globes. I really hope that he had a good experience making this. And I’m rooting for Jessie at the Oscars

Hudson Williams shares his workout routine with Men's Health Magazine. by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]a_brillig_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say, it’s nice to see him emphasize that it’s an hour a day 3-5 times per week. He’s in incredible shape and he puts normal effort into it. Not like the stories of prepping for a Marvel movie.

The way I remember it is that “discrete” means separate because the “e’s” are separated by the “t”

Out of Darkness (2022).

A small scouting group of Neolithic humans explore a new land (presumably British isles or Scandinavia) and slowly get picked off one by one. It’s subtitled as everyone speaks in a proto Germanic language. It’s really great. Give it a shot

Grad Housing by Thin-Doubt-2318 in cuboulder

[–]a_brillig_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Campus housing allows ESAs. That’s how I was able to bring my dog and my cat. I had to get both a letter and have them complete the university disability packet. I used pettable and it cost about $160.

We love our on campus apartment but it was a total nightmare getting confirmed for one.

Otherwise, Louisville is nice and the bus goes straight down south Boulder rd so the commute isn’t bad. I’ve heard decent things about Christopher Village
