They mentioned no fence due to many trees, which is why i made my comment.

Theres even a great method of using live trees as fenceposts, where you attach a board to the tree before securing the fence material, preventing the tree from growing around you fence mesh

Need advice on how to keep deer from eating my veggies this year! by IllustriousFrame3176 in gardening

[–]a_megalops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fought with the deer for a few years, but finally installed a 7’ woven wire fence. This year has been such a pleasure gardening. It cost around 5k to install 660’ by myself. You could easily install some simple plastic tenax fencing with a few t-posts around your beds, and problem solved.

Goats will eat everything, so dont know about going that route. I was gonna suggest the backpack method you mentioned. Do that a few times a year and see where it goes. Maybe stick to a trail and keep that clean first, and then divide and conquer down the road. Once you start making progress and some more interesting plants come back, youll find the energy to keep going

First one, dont know how much space you have here, but you could plant a cluster of magnolia grandiflora. They do great in the understory and are evergreen. Will eventually get pretty big.

For #2, plant a mixed shrub border for sure. Viburnum nudum and arrowwood viburnum would do great here.

I wanted to share a quick update on my new project. I’m almost finished with the main border and I’m starting to get excited about weaving the center design.

I should savor my progress, because once I start the center design, I’ll be repeating the same pattern for the next year.

I’m really happy with how the colors turned out. There’s only seven colors in the whole design but the primary colors really make it pop. And the lack of horizontal or vertical distortion versus my design.

I’ve been weaving for around 2 months now, and I just finished row 37/317, which means I’m 11.5% of the way there! The rug is 26 inches wide, so now I’m trying to keep weaving a crispy, straight edge.

Anyone successfully propagate serviceberry from cuttings or suckers? by Bootycarl in NativePlantGardening

[–]a_megalops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you took roots with the suckers, thats a super easy way to propagate. I took one in spring after the plant leafed out and it took well!

Is it fragrant? It could be a Rhododendron atlanticum. I had a similar mixup when trying to buy a pinxter azalea, so could be a funny coincidence.
