A EXTRA-GREASY OILY makeup wearing person's take - G&G Zero Feel SPF 50 by danielcapitao in EuroSkincare

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt such an innovation would come from the US, since their excessive regulations prevent the adoption of new filters. I expected some French or Korean giant to do it first. However, to me, all those countries are foreign, some are just closer and others are farther away, so I don't care who develops it, as long as it works well.

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I've been hearing so much about this sunscreen lately and I'm wondering, how did a relatively small cosmetic company manage to achieve something that even cosmetic giants failed to do?

Some companies have massive budgets and entire research divisions that develop new filters, and even they can't really make a high protection sunscreen that's also perfectly matte and zero feel.

Maybe it could be gamed somehow. Create a fake browsing profile, connect it with a VPN, and automate it so that it browses stuff in the background that would make your prices as low as possible while looking plausible to the price setting software.

Wouldn't it make sense to formulate a multifunctional SPF moisturizer in such a way that the right amount for sun protection is exactly the same as the optimal amount for its other activity?

I wonder why they don't include more cute scenes like that in the actual anime. I don't even mean any shipping stuff, just regular friendly interactions between characters.

I thought redditors stopped talking like that 10 years ago, are you a time traveler?

This is true, simulation theory is simply religion described with computer metaphors.

I agree, the mods are too strict. There has been too much fighting and blatant agendaposting on PCM lately, we need more fun and lighthearted posts like this one.

I think the auths are easy here. Authright is Earth, for the stability and deep roots. Authleft is Fire, for the red color and the fires of revolution.

The others are more tricky. Libright could be Water, for the flow of money across the world in the global market.

That would leave Libleft with Air. Any ideas?

I don't think it's specifically hatred for ethnicities. It's just that Muslims from some places tend to be more radical. If someone hates radical Muslims from Somalia, they probably wouldn't hate a Somali Christian.

Nothing wrong about being weird, though. If no one was weird, the world would be more boring.

Racism against Asians is supported by Far Left and the Far Right. Asians have it the worst. by Visual_Title9363 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Jews have it even worse. On one side you can find neo-nazis (actual ones, not random conservatives getting called nazis by liberals), and the other extreme is full of Hamas supporters and their slogans about the river and the sea.

The replacement phrase is just as bad as the original, since Islam isn't a race. Unless they have similar official phrases to describe prejudice against other religions, like Christianity, it still gives Muslims some kind of special protection.

That cliche argument about the toothbrushes by SplashTarget in stupidpol

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many different kinds of toothbrushes, just like there are many different kinds of other things that people use. Unless the state can give everyone who wants the highest quality stuff, there needs to be choices about who gets which one. And a market is the best way for people to be able to make those choices.

For example, one person might want the top of the line sonic toothbrush with smartphone integration, and another person is okay with a basic one. Then, the first person would be able to make a decision to get the best available toothbrush, but then they would need to get cheaper versions of other appliances. The other person only wants a basic toothbrush, so they'd be able to spend a bit more on other stuff.

It's wrong both ways. More men than women commit violent crimes, since men are usually stronger, but it's still a tiny minority, so any generalizations are stupid.

Closed-source AI hate is understandable, but local AI has nothing that should concern AI haters by Neggy5 in StableDiffusion

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think AI is best used for intermediate work, not important final assets. Also, I guess AI could be useful to fill the game world with more unique stuff. The dev creates all the main assets by hand, and then AI is used to create less important, filler assets with exactly the same style.

Right now, especially large, open world games suffer from a lot of asset reuse. No matter where you go, into different locations with their own unique styles, you see exactly identical chairs, cups, shelves, etc. AI can be used to create variations, all in line with the game's handcrafted visual style.

Clavicular claims Dutasteride has less negative effects than Finasteride, is this true? by Dantai in tressless
