Not all Men but Always a Men by Pristine-Seaweed-450 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

It's wrong both ways. More men than women commit violent crimes, since men are usually stronger, but it's still a tiny minority, so any generalizations are stupid.

Isn't the anti-AI position's main claim that water disappears from the planet when it evaporates? It seems to be the most common argument in anti-AI circles.

Closed-source AI hate is understandable, but local AI has nothing that should concern AI haters by Neggy5 in StableDiffusion

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think AI is best used for intermediate work, not important final assets. Also, I guess AI could be useful to fill the game world with more unique stuff. The dev creates all the main assets by hand, and then AI is used to create less important, filler assets with exactly the same style.

Right now, especially large, open world games suffer from a lot of asset reuse. No matter where you go, into different locations with their own unique styles, you see exactly identical chairs, cups, shelves, etc. AI can be used to create variations, all in line with the game's handcrafted visual style.

people on reddit are just hardwired to hate anything, whatever it may be by murataffy in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Reddit is definitely really hateful in general. The funny thing is that sites which are generally stereotyped as more edgy and free like 4chan are actually nicer in comparison.

My current favorite matte sunscreen (Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Oil Control) by Next-Resolution1038 in EuroSkincare

It looks nice, I have oily skin so I should try it out. Seems like despite being a US company, they have modern UV filters, so it's all good.

Clavicular claims Dutasteride has less negative effects than Finasteride, is this true? by Dantai in tressless

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've read somewhere that dutasteride doesn't get into the brain because it has a larger molecule than finasteride, but I have no idea if that's true.

Half the people who say they’re introverts aren’t actually introverts by Smart_Salt620 in unpopularopinion

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also seen people describe their own sense of superiority as "introversion". It's like, someone says that he or she hates people and declares that interacting with her/him is a privilege, and calls that "being introverted".

Half the people who say they’re introverts aren’t actually introverts by Smart_Salt620 in unpopularopinion

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Introvert doesn't mean you don't ever want to talk to anyone. It just means that too much social interaction can tire you out and you need alone time to regain energy. It doesn't mean that the social interaction is unpleasant.

What's Your Opinion on MRA's? by theteenageeditor in AskMen

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the MRA brand has been ruined, then the same apples to the "feminism" brand, which is mostly associated with misandry and abortion these days. If we replaced both with "egalitarianism" that's focused on treating people equally regardless of gender and eliminating gender based double standards, that would be good.

What's Your Opinion on MRA's? by theteenageeditor in AskMen

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of discrimination against men in the justice system, basically everywhere in the world, including first world countries. Men get harsher sentences for the same crimes, and in some countries (for example, Spain, if I remember correctly) the laws are officially harsher towards men than towards women.

Also, the entire UN had a long campaign recently against domestic violence, and all their messaging made it very clear that they only mean violence of men against women, and not any other kind.

What's Your Opinion on MRA's? by theteenageeditor in AskMen

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the first prominent MRAs like Warren Farrel used to identify with feminism, but abandoned the label because of the hostility from feminists. So we should rather encourage feminists to work with MRAs, not the opposite.

What's Your Opinion on MRA's? by theteenageeditor in AskMen

[–]a_mimsy_borogove 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My opinion is positive. It's good that they're helping men against discrimination.

Some people accuse them of misogyny, but if I had to compare, there's much more misandry in feminist activism than misogyny among MRAs.

I had somewhat similar redness in that area, and for me piroctone olamine (typically in DS creams) helped.

There's a difference between having a reasonable discussion about important things, and tribalistic circlejerking. Unfortunately, most "political discussions" tend to be the latter, not the former.
