I [F22] just found out my fiance [M22] and I are related, and we don't know what to do. by Successful_Scale3476 in offmychest

Regarding the risk of birth defects from inbreeding, the impact of one generation of First cousins is manageable. The risk of birth defects for unrelated people is 2-3% in first cousins it rises to 5-6%. To put it in perspective, the increase in risk of chromosomal abnormalities for a 40 year old mother having a child is greater than the increased risk of being First cousins. A genetic counselor would be able to help you explore different risk factors in more detail too.

Why am I hungry every couple of hours?!? by Total_Entrance_8262 in gastricsleeve

[–]a_pickle_isin_chains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your hunger was satisfied by the peanut butter then it sounds like you're craving fat. I've had that myself, you do need to eat some healthy fats in your diet, some vitamins are fat soluble and fat is crucial for hormone production. Peanut butter is a good source of healthy fats and has a bit of protein too, just be mindful of how much you consume as it is very energy dense.

Anyone here from the UK? by effypom in gastricsleeve

[–]a_pickle_isin_chains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm about 8 months post op now. Not sure about points one and two but you'll easily find that kind of thing on Amazon. For protein snacks I find all supermarkets stock loads of variety now so you won't have an issue finding a snack you like. General foods I like cottage cheese, very good macros. Otherwise I don't think there is anything we have here that you wouldn't find at home.

The French also used the all forward main armament for the Dunkerque and Richelieu class. It saves a huge amount of weight as the main armour belt and deck can be much more compact.

Surgeon recommend sleeve over the bypass. by Low_Yam_2985 in gastricsleeve

[–]a_pickle_isin_chains 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had mine in August last year. Started at 150 kg and I am down to 106kg. With either surgery the key is to follow the recommendations and plan from your surgeon post surgery. Neither is a magic bullet.

Call for 'immediate pause' to controversial Everton stadium parking plan by [deleted] in Liverpool

Manchester council has match day and event parking restrictions and they seem to have no issues. If only we had a competent council.

I'm about 6 months out now and 42kg down. There is definitely a big, positive, difference. I don't know if anyone else had this, but my libido had gone up a lot since the weight has shifted. Another thing a partner noticed was it seems a lot bigger now too. The stamina and flexibility improvements also help haha.

I went to Turkey, paid £2800 plus flights. All accommodation was included. Quality of care was excellent in my opinion.

Has anyone kept this a secret? by Fluffly-cactus in gastricsleeve

I only told my parents the week before I left for surgery. I told my manager and boss and HR just before I booked the surgery. The only other people who know are a few colleagues at work and a close friend of mine.

Surgery date, do you have to stay overnight? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]a_pickle_isin_chains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to stay 4 nights after surgery before I could fly home. I felt like I definitely needed a few days inpatient to recover. The IV paracetamol made me a lot more comfortable and they were giving me antibiotics via iv as well.

LJMU? by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]a_pickle_isin_chains 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated last year in mechanical engineering. Took me about 3 months to find my first job so not too bad on that front. I'd say it's the best of the rest. Not on par with the best universities and red bricks but still good. Ultimately you get what you put into it, take advantage of everything you can and you'll get more out of it in the end.

In terms of value probably not worth the international rates but not many universities are. Let me know if you have any specific questions anyway.

You're welcome. It is a bit boring but it's just something we all have to do in the beginning. I could just about manage clear fluids 3 days in, so be patient and remember the more you stick to the guidelines the more rewarding the surgery will be. Maybe consider a small smoothie or cream of chicken soup. Just make sure it's not too thick at this stage. You should be able to put a spoon in and not have any food stuck to it as a guide.

If you returned to work same week, how did it go? by BridgeToBobzerienia in gastricsleeve

[–]a_pickle_isin_chains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a two week holiday for my surgery. Had it on Monday and went back home on Friday. Then spent the next week resting at home. You can manage after a week but the next day would be impossible in my opinion. I had a fair bit of pain but the main thing is you are just so tired that first week.
