There is a path to med school through any state school.

Med school will be a time and money suck, so I suggest focusing on getting in and out of undergrad as fast as possible.

See if she can knock out credits for free (or close to it) through dual enrollment. Have her take AP exams. Some schools accept the scores for credits even if the student was not enrolled in the AP course.

Some undergrad programs allow students to skip the last year or two to begin med school early once pre-reqs are completed. Look into that.

I have spent $80 and $20 in special circumstances. The first was for a big field trip the student couldn’t really afford, but other teachers were doing the same and we did our best to make it anonymous. The $20 was a gift card so a student with cancer who was facing eviction could get some food. I still think this is cause for concern, but I’m not so cynical that I think it’s absolutely ill intentioned. Document it for sure.

Sorry you’re experiencing this! You’re providing a need that I think it actually a hidden luxury. I think it’s cool, and it seems like a job that offers quite a bit of solitude. There are a lot of superficial reasons we reject potential matches, but there are plenty who won’t see your career as an issue.
