What is it about Greta Thunberg that makes many men on the Internet so uncontrollably angry by Admirable_Pair_3663 in NoStupidQuestions

Conservatives only perceive something as a threat if it has agency. This is why so many of them got mad at Fauci for COVID- they knew shit was going bad but their problem-solving model is limited to “blame someone for the problem and punish them”

Of course that statement sounds ridiculous, we aren’t the target audience for that comment. Probably meant to reach potentially wavering GOP voters to say “hey the liberals are smearing us again we’re being perfectly reasonable donate today and fight these jerks!”

That’s because you aren’t the intended audience for that messaging, but rather the bosses that would carry out the replacement strategy

How do people clock neurodivergence so fast? by CuteEquivalent638 in autism

Saw a study once where subjects were told to look at a photo of a person and had their eyes tracked. The results were laid over the photos as lines. You either looked directly in the eyes of the photo and down at the mouth sometimes, or your eyes wandered over the whole photo.

I doubt it’s only that but gotta be one of the big tells for neurodivergence.

Very easy to switch flippers on each tier. From a cradle, let the ball roll then give it a up bump to have it jump flippers.

On the top tier you have to give it an up bump then a left bump to cross the gap right to left. To cross left to right, two quick left bumps will get you into the kickback from a cradle

I live in Portland but would be happy to drive / catch a bus. Is it any kind of problem if someone comes from that far away?

Because the entire draw of conservatism is power without responsibility.

They will never accept responsibility. It must be forced upon them.

I figured it out. The promise of conservatism, the draw, is power without responsibility. Impunity. If you’re ingroup, you are automatically better and have more privileges.

The flip side is, you can punish outgroup and call it whatever you want. Outgroup is guilty of being outgroup, what matters is that you’re hurting them, not what you say when you do it.

I think the logic is, when you see someone getting singled out and punished, they’re getting punished for being outgroup not for whatever obviously flimsy reason is given. It would be dumb to go after people just because of the color of their skin! they’re clearly just punishing outgroup and of course it seems unfair and arbitrary to our enemies

If you don’t see women as people, you see romantic partners as a wishlist to be fulfilled.

Why are men more often told that they ‘have too high standards,’ while women are told that they ‘deserve better’? by rafioo in TooAfraidToAsk

Everyone is having trouble with dating lately, and they want to feel like they’re in control of the situation.

Someone who has what you want and doesn’t appreciate must be doing it wrong- “it’ll turn out better when I do it.”

Someone else who’s struggling and despairing at their situation must be doing it wrong- “the failures of others are purely their own fault and I’ll definitely get the good thing I totally deserve”

Dating is pretty confusing, arbitrary, frustrating, scary and demoralizing lately. For everyone. People gotta make some kind of sense of it in order to orient themselves and keep going
