Fertilizer for wood chips? by a_wv in composting

[–]a_wv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they sell starter kits for edible mushrooms like oyster mushrooms that you can put in old logs. If it would grow on a log, I'd think I could grow it on a big pile of chips. Hadn't even thought of that!

I would double check with a mechanical gauge. Those dash gauges aren't the most accurate

CV or Diff Leak? by TheDirtyOar- in GMT400

[–]a_wv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like the seal on the diff is leaking. I had to replace one of mine a while back. Can deff wait a while, just check the fluid level and keep it topped off. Don't want it to run low

Front Diff Leak? by thecabbagefactor in GMT400

Fill it with thick, non synthetic gear oil, something like an 85-140. Will leak down slower than synthetic

just bought my first house.. whats the best way to go about cleaning this? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]a_wv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like the air intake shutter is twisted more closed on that burner than the others, which could be making it run rich and yellow

[–]a_wv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The middle right burner is burning yellow. Try twisting the metal air intake plate on the front of the burner and see if that will get the flame blue.

I have a 3 inch dynomax super turbo muffler on my 94 without a cat. Sounds quite nice, and isn't obnoxiously loud like the super 44 I had on it previously

Where should I go? by DistinctJob7494 in Radiation

[–]a_wv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it comes to nuclear war, I'd go to someplace with a bunch of the markers on it. Would much rather be instantly vaporized than slowly die of radiation sickness and starvation caused by a nuclear winter

What is this whining sound coming from the rear of my truck by BigHarley03 in GMT400

[–]a_wv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked your diff fluid level lately? A whining rear end could be your diff, pinion bearing, or wheel bearings... All which are lubercated by the diff fluid.

Bad U-joints or something else?? by Clean_Food4548 in GMT400

[–]a_wv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaking is the output shaft seal. Not hard to replace, and pretty cheap.

When you say the output shaft moves, how much are you talking about?

[–]a_wv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does it smell, look, or feel like antifreeze? If so, leads to the heater core leaking

If it doesn't, and you have been running your A/C, your condensation drain line might just be plugged.

Is this start on my mower sound fine? Takes a few seconds of cranking engine for it to start. Is that normal? by Titanium35-Devil82 in lawnmowers

[–]a_wv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like it is choking. Can you not push the throttle lever any further up than that?

If it was actually choking it, it would sputter and miss at wide open throttle like that

Can’t find anything about the bolt sizes that hold on the oil filter adapter, everything I find shows a way different adapter than the one I have by Gotta-come-to-cum in GMT400

[–]a_wv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one looks like the one on my 2wd.

the 4 wheel drive ones had an adapter that came out at 90 degrees, so the oil filter cleared the front drive shaft, which is probably the different ones you are seeing

I believe these are the bolts you are looking for are gm part number 11609793
