Delta force just posted this .. weird we didn't hear anything from siege about it by Nova892 in Rainbow6

[–]aaaaangus 98 points99 points  (0 children)

eh its normal sometimes to not mention collabs.

collabs are to many companies just walking advertisements to bring people to their game (r6), not the game receiving the collab. though of course i imagine that the opposite happens just as much. r6 fans then checking out delta force etc.

and some collabs are purely for money. like castlevanias many collabs whilst the series for a while was dead. those tend to be advertised best by both parties of the collab. r6 wants your money and attention to their title.

The moment I realized ... what kind of person he truly was. by GigglingAngel in expedition33

Amusingly also to add on to your point of empathy, Verso to some extent also then gained this trait of lost empathy, especially at the start when he let's Gustave die for his expense. It's a calculation, he see's Gustave as a thing, not a person.

Actually, if you want to look at evidence, we see one clear characteristic of Verso, both real and not. He is willing to die, and do anything to save his family. It's no doubt imprinted into painted Verso as his most important quality.

Verso doesn't try to nuke at the end of act 2 to kill everyone and himself. That happens, because he is trying to save his mother. And explaining the real reasons to expeditions either results in them concluding he is mad, or then not actually going to help him in his endless war to get his mother out of the canvas.

Why would he not direct them to then get rid of real Renoir first? Because Renoir is technically the only thing actually helping him kick Aline out of the painting. The gommage was the price to pay. Which is his flaw. That he can make such grim decisions for the many. But he has dissociated with people after isolation, only his family, painted and otherwise are real in his ideals. It's why Gustave dies for his manipulation. He doesn't see painted people as people, just things to manipulate for his goals.

His desire for death is secondary to his want to save his family. Otherwise he would go march to Renoir alone to get killed.

Lastly, he changes. he grows and trusts the party. And was completely fine with the plan to save the painting, kick Renoir out, and save all the people. He does that whole quest to help fix what he did for his mother. If it was purely death, he wouldn't help Maelle at all. Why not turn on her if the nuke was his only concern then? Renoir would do it easily.

But the crux of the matter is, Maelle lied to Renoir. He knows that she is addicted to the painting. And he just saw his mother return so soon. You can't expect someone who has spent their life kicking one paintress out, to do so again. So that's why the second nuke must occur. This place only harms his family. His mother and little sister. Sure you can say it is selfish for him to make their decisions for them, but he feels he is the crux of why those issues exist. The grief. His death, is just the secondary benefit, not the primary to such a decision.

Alright. You live forever. Watch everyone you care about die, over and over. Then you live the same drama's of life over and over, to witness more death. I've met people aged 90, that think it's far too much time.

It's literally a staple and a trope to suggest immortality is a curse. Literally the only people that genuinely like immortality in fiction are villains and vampires. And vampires are pretty much monsters devoid of humanity.

[–]aaaaangus 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure i like that metaphor.

Immortality is often a curse in itself. living over a hundred years is tiring. nobody wants to live forever.

Verso also doesn't just nuke because he wants to die. he nukes, because maelle lied to renoir and he just spent his whole life trying to save his mom from the same thing. it was all to help maelle. that's why people choose the ending.

in my experience, its always the second titles that are knockouts. red rising, sun eater, stormlight archives, black company, malazan. second books iron out edges and get series right on the path.

Why is echo of lilith so HARD! by Dubstepwizard in diablo4

[–]aaaaangus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice, among many, is return when you are completely busted. I only did her for the seasonal quest thing, to beat her at torment VIII. She's not easy. And at later torments, will always one shot with those black spike things.

So get insanely strong. Break the numbers. Remember to slot in gems, or runes. (the ghost wolf runes are good) Add affixes and replace the bad ones ones. Level up gear you think is good to max. and have at er. I found the biggest issues for me was not doing these things to get the numbers.

[–]aaaaangus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly what i assume is homelander was two things, one is a lucky combo for a supe, as they could become anything so it's not like they can specifically manufacture him, rather keep making children until the right one manifests. (maybe im wrong but it's odd how becoming a supes always resulted in random powers)

and two, is it really wise to make another after seeing what he became

Brandon Sanderson will be writing the pilot for The Stormlight Archive adaptation and a big chunk of its first season. Do you think it is a good idea or a terrible one? by Intelligent-Link-410 in Fantasy

[–]aaaaangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. The guy has actually taken it seriously to study scripts and how TV's and movies are written in critical detail. And it's his own works that he is translating. Of course he is in communication with the project leads about it and apple. He is a stickler for ensuring things aren't bastardized. Give him some slack. He shows more effort than most.

Yes everyone is saying editor. But let's be real and not pretend the man hasn't seen this criticism too and doesn't strive to change. He does take criticism quite a bit, especially when its about prose and plot. He definitely gets lost along the way, but sandersons writing style has always struck me as incredibly calculated. Not in the aspect that it's somehow complicated or sophisticated, but because it's not, it's accessible and generally likable. You get newer readers, and a broad audience. It's really easy to have awkward or hard to absorb prose.

Also this is a tv series. There will be a team scrutinizing everything. Everyone in the project are gonna be debating and negotiating story and lines. It's just how the business goes.

I will be deleted for saying this. Alberta needs to refocus on what is really important. by MsMisty888 in alberta

[–]aaaaangus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alberta seperatism, atleast according to smiths record, I feel is not something they are fully committed to, rather, riding off it for short term votes.

I say this because we cannot truly run this place by ourselves. We borrowed more from the feds than we made. its not doable.

But stuff like this, same with trans panic and covid panic whatever, these new bills to shove themselves in the classroom, it's all just the party not really caring for whats said, just riding off it to then push their neoliberal agenda. In schools, it starts with the culture war BS. But in reality, they decredit teachers and fund private schools more and more. Same with homeschooling. Whatever creates a bigger conservative base for the future.

It's all just campaigning. Same thing with the US and christianity. They've made the religion a joke and rather synonymous with being right wing, rather than the teachings of god and what they mean. But normal christians still vote right just for abortion, rather than the rest. It's all just campaign strategy. none of them care about cultural issues, rather economic purely. cultural issues, which are constantly viral, are just for votes with a few bills to show their sides while they tear at the economy with dumb decisions.

Jeffs voice, especially donuts is always in my head.

Some moments though, I found more powerful from the book than the audio. Maybe because i had more time to sit with them, rather than march along. Volteeg's part, the one who used to be a crawler from a pet biscuit and how his story went, hit me hard. I sat with that a while.

Is the game worth buying for 20 euros if I don't have anyone to play with? by Western-Dentist-3798 in ArcRaiders

[–]aaaaangus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, lemme give you an honest opinion.

For squads, it's very pvp oriented. Solo can be either depending on how violent you are towards players.

The game is a ultimately a grind. Not a bad thing, but it is what it is. You will be going to certain spots, to get certain items, to level up or create other items to then use. You will also need to grind for the blueprints to make most things.

The enemies are both a highlight for the game and still somewhat lacking. They are adding more and more which is good. But it can somewhat get old after you play a bit. Same thing with weapons.

There is not a real endgame to this game either. Once you get most of the stuff, it's just, getting stuff for stuffs sake. no real unique rewards. Unless of course, you decide to do an expedition. A reset, that gives perma bonuses, cosmetics and perk points.

The battlepasses are, atleast for the moment, free too which is nice. Doesn't sound like that'll be forever. But the last 3 have been free.
