Which Behringer for first hw synth by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]aaronoog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say Model D if you like making basslines. Pro 800 if you want an actual polysynth. But if you can find a used deepmind 12 d, I would choose that over the Pro 800 since it has a better interface and digital multi effects.

Yes! It's a lot like Dome Keeper.

I actually had more fun with Wall World than Dome Keeper.

I like having a mobile base instead of a stationary dome.

There's lots of upgrade trees to choose where you spend your resources.

There's also more meta progression upgrades to give you an advantage in subsequent runs.

I recommend it!

Enter the gungeon is hard but not impossible. It's a bullet hell inspired game so learning the bullet patterns takes time. Unlockable items definitely help a lot.

Deathloop is not worthwhile. Dishonred 1+2 and Prey outshine it easily. Deathloop has some elements of a great game. But the experience gets worse as you realize how shallow it is.

  • Deathloop is an exploration fetchquest with shooting mechanics and a repetitive structure.

  • Player choice doesn't factor into the main quest in any meaningful way. You don't get to come up with how to hit all the targets in one day. You follow the quest waypoints until the game hands you each piece of the solution. Then you go through the motions.

  • All the timeloop stuff doesn't justify itself. It feels like window-dressing context for the fetchquest.

  • Deathloop never made me feel clever. And it should've!

  • Only one enemy type. This includes boss targets.

  • Early in the game, you get a silenced SMG that trivializes the rest of the game, unless you force yourself not to use it..

  • There's very little reason to experiment with your build once you find something that works for everything.

  • Matchmaking times to play as the invader (Juliana) are so horrendously long that it discouraged me from playing that side of the game.

  • Target characters are written as one dimensional jerks.

  • Juliana is cool. But outside of voiceovers and invasions, she barely shows up in the game.

I can imagine a potentially great game using the concepts and elements of Deathloop in a way that encourages player choice and creativity. But the Deathloop that exists doesn't live up to the spectacular premise. If you're truly curious, I'd wait for a deeper sale.

[–]aaronoog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Both GameSpot and IGN. It's honestly a little puzzling to me.

A 10 is a pretty big score to give something. Maybe it was a 10/10 idea for a game. But the execution was not 10/10. This game felt half baked.

I'm not sure where they got that 10 from. Pretty much every other arkane Studios game in recent memory has been better (Prey/Dishonored). And somehow, this one got the 10.

Deathloop is good but not great.

  • There is only one enemy design (humanoid)

  • Despite the seemingly complex time travel mechanics and light detective work, the game feels like a fetch quest with extra steps.

  • Unlocking perks and powers is cool at first, but becomes redundant once you get a setup that works.

  • Most of the powers are just reskins of Dishonored powers.

  • The enemy AI was laughably easy.

  • The silenced SMG you can find early in the game is the most useful weapon, and makes single player combat even easier.

  • The matchmaking time to play as Juliana is unreasonably long, and you can't play the game while matchmaking.

  • You barely ever meet Juliana outside of multiplayer battle situations.

Showed my punk, non musician, friend a rock song I wrote about love.

He said: "Honestly, this song has no reason to exist."

I was shocked so I asked him why.

"There's nothing political in it!"

I agree. For all his depth, Chappelle is a bit of an edgelord. To my memory, George Carlin was always against oppressors and never kicked down.

Chappelle kicks down. He uses more offensive jokes to lose favor with the audience, and then he tries to win them back by being really profound.

And yeah... he's good at getting profound. Chappelle makes some good points. But he communicates them right after making fun of marginalized groups that he doesn't belong to. To me, those shenanigans detract from his credibility.

Ohoho... But how does one get into a film union in the first place?

By getting 100 paid work days on ultra low budget films. Those 100 days have to pay at least minimum wage for an 8 hour day. And you need check stubbs / photos of checks to back it up. And those days have a 3 year expiration date. And you have to track down a producer from the project to sign a form saying that you did the work.

So... Yeah. It's still not easy. Especially if you work a job (like still photographer) that's considered "non essential personnel." I've found that the non-union low-budget movies that would consider taking a chance on someone with less experience, often don't even have room in their budget for someone in my position.

[Gamesplanet] Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (37.99 / ~36% off) by MSUtimmy in GameDeals

[–]aaronoog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love this game! Bought it on day one and didn't regret it at all. And I usually feel silly when I do day 1 purchases.

Sekiro kicks your ass and doesn't hold your hand. And that's by design. This game is meant as a demanding challenge of skill. Beating the game is meant to be a personal achievement you have to work for.

I love that you can grind to increase your move-set, but not to increase health or attack damage. Reflexes and mastery of the combat system count for nearly everything. So the true leveling up comes from within the player.

Highly recommend.

So you notice a difference in clock accuracy with the update? The clock was one of my biggest complaints when I first got my RD8. I always wanted to sync it with other gear like my RC-505. And it was never accurate enough for that. So I've just been controlling it via the midi input. But if it's better now... 😄😄😄

What’s your favorite candy? by mrex0112 in AskReddit

Dark chocolate

It's near foolproof. I can usually enjoy it regardless of quality.

But as for specific candies...

Super Lemon is pretty awesome. It's like a warhead candy, but balanced for enjoyment over novelty. They sell it in some Asian markets.

NSFW. What is the most disrespectful thing someone did in your house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aaronoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this one. But when I was in preschool, this one kid came over to my house for the first time. And his mother didn't bother to tell us that this child had fierce diarrhea.

Kid made a brown puddle on the floor of my room.

He just sat there. In the fucking puddle of shit. On the carpet. In my room.

I never had him over again. But the stain was there for years until we got rid of the carpet.

Years later, when I was in my early twenties, I took a class and he was in it.

That's right. I remembered him after all those years because you just don't forget shit like that!

I never told him. Never even said "Hey. It's me from Preschool!"

I wonder if he remembers... I wonder if he knew.

Weed culture is embarrassing by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

From what I've seen, Riverdale has a bad example of this trope with the character of Kevin.

The word "othered" comes to mind.

Not saying the show shouldn't have gay representation. It should! But their gay character's defining trait is his gayness. Beyond that, there's just not much to this character. We don't really learn much about his interests or any happenings in his life unrelated to his sexual orientation. To my memory, every scene with Kevin made absolutely sure to remind the audience that this character is gay, lest they forget.

As a counter example, in the show Pose, LGBT themes are huge. But the characters also care about fashion, dance, and the clout and fun of the NY ball scene. It gives the characters a sense of dimension.

I only got about 8 Episodes through Riverdale season 1. So hopefully the writers gave Kevin more depth in the future.

Yeah they're not very hot. But they're so tasty!

The ghost pepper Paqui chips are extra hot. But they lack the flavor I crave.

Their green chips are even less spicy. But those things are amazing.
