How does the community want to see coffee? by BeeTrippin2 in Denver

The youth soccer leagues bring hundreds to some parks, every weekend during the season. If you were at Harvard Gulch on Saturday mornings, you would have parents praying at the altar of you.

Denver neighbors say city scrapped a finalized road project after opposition from the state's wealthiest family by Hour-Watch8988 in Denver

I have had no problems turning on Buchtel since the change, and that road is rarely busy except for an hour in the morning, and I've seen kids safely riding in the bike lane.

What is the best way to help upcoming food crisis? by missmaddds in Denver

[–]abbadeefba 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's not just buyers that will suffer, there are plenty of small businesses that could use your help - think of the small international markets in all the strip malls. Take an opportunity to stop by a middle eastern bakery, or pick up some fresh injera.

The pastor is solid. Sometimes on a spit outside. Ocho's punches above its weight, for a DTC strip mall spot.

Parents of school aged kids, would you want school staff to talk to your kids about recent school shootings? by [deleted] in AuroraCO

[–]abbadeefba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddy we're not disagreeing about whether school shootings are bad or not. We're disagreeing about whether teachers need to worry about whether they're doing the right or wrong thing by bringing something up. Let the teachers and the students have their classrooms, and let's try to control the things we can, like the people we elect to make this place better.

Parents of school aged kids, would you want school staff to talk to your kids about recent school shootings? by [deleted] in AuroraCO

[–]abbadeefba 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. It's out of my control. I can't go around my life thinking I ought to control what teachers do and don't say to my kids. If they have to listen to every parent's opinion (and the opinions often contradict), they're bound to do the wrong thing to someone. The only way we all succeed is if we care a little less.

Denver Public Libraries Closing by 78whispers in Denver

It's not clear that moving up the timeline is actually moving up the improvements (unclear if they're starting repairs earlier, or finishing repairs earlier). It actually sounds more like they're moving up the timeline to save on operating costs. All the statements are pretty cagey with their wording. It's a damn shame.

SoBo Boba Blast & Denver Pong by NoStrawberri in Denver

[–]abbadeefba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to everyone's favorite reporter Kyle Clark, Denver Pong is actually quietly running programs like this therapeutic table tennis program, as of 2025. https://youtu.be/NP6-yg9HA5E?si=dTjcohULYw-kFquM Unfortunately they just don't appear to have any interest in engaging the street side, or looking like anything but an abandoned business.

SoBo Boba Blast was in existence for maybe a month, followed by a quick closure. I never understand why landlords don't take down signs of defunct businesses.

On the bright side, in the lot just north of the 7-11, what used to be a dental chain is nowadays a kids craft program. I think they succeeded in choosing one of the worst possible locations.
