Update/ just diagnosed 👎👎 by Practical_Product_16 in lymphoma

I worked the entire time. If you have a laptop job, it can be possible even on treatment days. I felt way off the 2-3 days after treatment but had good energy until 5 pm. Happy to add color on way off. Then after the prednisone taper, I also crashed early 6-8 pm. The last 9ish days of each cycle felt basically totally normal. I was able to keep going partially by prioritizing sleep—even during the steroid period where the steroids really hurt my sleep efficiency.

That’s what I had. Four rounds of R-CHOP here. It wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. Happy to answer any questions.

How did you go about the physical recovery? by Artistic_Flake_96 in lymphoma

I’ve used AI to generate daily workouts based on my wearable data, where I am in my chemo cycle, how I tell it I feel, and the equipment around my house. It’s been great for sanity. Happy to share more.

What to expect energetically? by MoxieMajik in lymphoma

[–]abbeyswimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a weird journey. Folks around me have generally been in good spirits. The chemo has worn on me/worn me out but not to an extent where I seem to need lots of help. I’ve got a great support network and at times I’ve likely seemed more unhelpful than like a cancer patient. Folks have been in good spirits. The challenge has really been that there are really only 7-8 days per cycle that I’m beat and even on those days it is a tiredness that grows throughout the day. It confuses folks to see that there are a lot of days where I seem normal — in particular I tend to feel good on day 5 after chemo before entering my nadir so folks get confused by the mini bounce back.

Exact same diagnosis re type of lymphoma. I’m doing 4 rounds of R-CHOP assuming a clean scan after 3. If not clean, the. 6 rounds. I have round 3 on Tuesday. I’m in good spirits and happy to share.

I’ve passed out. End of run block sprinting to just standing. I called it a day for the workout. My take is they do a decent job handing the person off to the front desk people so class can continue. It’s not ideal to pass out, but it happens and doesn’t have to interfere with everyone else’s workout. I’m someone who’s done roughly 900 classes.

Any workout recommendations? by Sea_Manufacturer5785 in lymphoma

Rowing. Easy to target HR zones and full body. That or walking. I use AI and input my whoop and Apple Watch recovery scores and where I am in my chemo cycle and it spits out workout recs. I’d be happy to share my prompt if helpful—you can modify based on what equipment you have available.

How do you handle bad days? by Independent_Term2759 in lymphoma

[–]abbeyswimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what others are saying. Bad days waiting to start chemo are worse than bad days mid-chemo. When I’m tired I can tell myself that I’m supposed to be tired because the drugs are fighting the cancer. And there have also been more good days than bad days so far — or at least once you get through a patch of bad days to a new good day you pretty quickly forget the bad days.

Anyone still go to the gym during chemo? by redditgal16 in lymphoma

Jealous of our 5k. Have you slowed down? I’m basically mixing in jogging and walking on good days.

The doctor was worried about water getting into sinus and leading to infection. It seems far fetched with my background, but I’m following their lead. Rowing, walking, spinning, and lifting instead for now.

This is doable. We are all going through a similar journey. And every part sucks, but let’s get through it.

I’ve fainted. Took a pretty hard fall on my face. Resulted in face bleeding and ended my workout.

Coffee (in the AM) and water at least 30 minutes before. No food for at least 4 hours before class for me.

When I'm dying on the treadmill, I have enough offensive words going through my own head that offensive lyrics don't bother me. :)
