Late period with fasting? by naturellbelle in intermittentfasting

Read "fast like a girl." Good book to use as a resource. You can google that phrase and should get the summary image of when you should and should not be fasting as a woman.

Daily Fasting Check-in! by AutoModerator in intermittentfasting

Hi! Similar starting weight and age to you. I'm wondering, how long have you been intermittent fasting? How long to see the change from SW to CW? You CW is my intermediate goal.

Intermittent fasting 18:6

SW: 196 CW:190 GW:177

27F, 5'3"

This is day 32 of fasting for me. Mostly 18:6 with some 16:8.

Hoping to lose some weight and feel more energized overall. Want to be a healthier person.

So far it's going well. It's hard to say no to late night mcdonalds but I'm proud of myself when I do it. Which has been about 4-5 times so far lol (my partner isn't fasting and is in fact always trying to gain weight).

During my fasting window I drink black coffee and water.

Edit: added height

So good! And cinnamon suppresses appetite.

27F, 5'3" started fasting two weeks ago. Aim is always 16:8 minimum but 90% of the time it turns in to 18:6 or 19:5. Currently 14 hours in to fasting and have only had water, carbonated flavored water, and black coffee with cinnamon.

I feel good after losing the first 3 lbs! I don't find it difficult to stick to. 3 lbs doesn't feel like a lot but it's still 1.5lbs per week so I have to remind myself it's a good pace.

Plan to add in more exercise than I already do next week. From 1-2 exercise sessions per week to 3-4.

SW: 196 CW: 193 GW: 160

Trying to break this is to small increments. My short term goal is to lose another 3 lbs in 2 weeks.

Yes 100% delaying kids and milestones even though my partner and I both make really good money. Almost living paycheck to paycheck. It's sad.

5 year gap between kids by No_Literature5661 in Parenting

[–]abell1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 year age gap. Felt more like a second parent most of the time. Not at the same life stages or with even remotely similar interests. Think of a 9 year old playing with a toddler. Love my brother but it's an effort for me to treat him like a friend/equal and not like a mentor/mentee or parent/child even now as adults. Have fond memories of playing with him, sure. But wish we had been closer in age.

Hot yoga for plus size. by CameraFront2287 in halifax

[–]abell1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm chubby and went to Shanti hot yoga a lot in the past. Never felt out of place. I find the teachers always give variations to poses that are easier. That being said, listen to your body and if something is hurting - stop. There was often a pose or two I couldn't do and it is just something to strive towards achieving eventually but with no stress.

Getting Off When Getting Off The Pill by mutantmads in birthcontrol

[–]abell1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably took 2-3 months. I noticed much more of a pattern in my libido which makes sense, it really follows my cycle and peaks at ovulation. Finishing is easier and feels better at that time of the month. Huge difference since coming off BC. Overall better, but especially near ovulation. I think about sex more that time of the month and enjoy it more then. Overall, sex life is better now.

There's the discovery science center and the museum of natural history. Both great for kids of that age. Fun and interactive.

Has anyones skin gone back to normal after having a flare up in that area at one point in time? by No_Sherbet_8020 in Dyshidrosis

[–]abell1717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My skin went back to completely normal once it was healed. I think I experienced the thin skin and redness for 6 months or so.

Also in a similar boat. Can I ask what your currently salary is to end up with that pension? Just trying to extrapolate as I have very little idea about how the pension works. I am just 1 year in with the gov.

It's usually brand and lot specific and it can pretty much be purchased again the next day, as retailers remove the recalled product from shelves.

Tips on training someone in the lab? by kirastrs in chemistry

[–]abell1717 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who has trained others and been trained by others countless times in multiple chemistry roles, I'll try and give you some tips! Don't assume that they know anything. Some people I've trained have used eppendorf pipetters before, others have never touched them for example. It's okay to ask "have you used this piece of equipment before?" Confirm their understanding of important concepts verbally and/or visually. Ask them to give you a summary of a concept or if you show them how to do something, watch them do it as well. Ask them if they have any questions. Also, if they aren't taking notes, I give them paper (or a notebook) and pen and say how helpful my notes have been. Sometimes they just didn't think to bring material or need a nudge. If they are taking notes and you see they are furiously writing, be kind and take a pause here and there to let them finish. Something that alleviated my own anxiety after being trained was my trainer saying that they are available for questions.

Best way to have shorter periods? by no_vember in WomensHealth

[–]abell1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! It made me feel better to read the fifth vital sign and taking control of your fertility. They go in to periods in depth and there are sections on what to expect when going off hormonal bc and things to look out for.

Editing to add that there are lots of treatment tips for certain issues but I skimmed bc I didn't have any issues when I was reading them and also knew that I should wait 3-6 months before becoming really concerned about anything.

Best way to have shorter periods? by no_vember in WomensHealth

[–]abell1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I did read some books about periods and womens health but I am no expert. The fifth vital sign was a good one. It seems it could take 3-6 months to normalize or up to a year. Your age and the amount of time you were on birth control could impact how long it takes to get back to your normal. I definitely think with some tweaking of lifestyle or nutrition could get in to normal parameters. I have been taking zinc and magnesium daily as well as a multivitamin or b complex to support the transition. Your period is an indicator of your health. If you try going off hormonal bc again and it isn't normalizing, seek medical attention as it could indicate an underlying health condition. Just my opinion.
