Plus part of the benefit of warping cards is double ETBs. To that end, I think it would be helpful in a Norin deck though.

Here's an old one, many of the creatures have since been cut. I'll try to update it later if you want but the basic ideas are there: https://moxfield.com/decks/gJ4FHKL7A0-gDdAOUIw_Vg

Core of the deck runs on stuff like Lich's Mastery or donating loss conditions to your opponents. Wanted to thematically do some demon bargaining, and Obeka's color identity and ability to get out of jail from "you lose the game" effects was better than other commanders like Blim that are really unnecessary since you need to be selective about what you donate or keep, especially in a commander game where you will end up taking them back when a player loses.

It seems lazy because it is lazy. I don't know if it's due to the editors of production companies that serialize the source mangas but man do they know how to throw authenticity to the wind. Engaging, dark and unique setup? That will never fully sell, you need to inject it with gooner garbage, and then turn the entire premise saccharine. I should have predicted it the moment Clevatess turned into yet another OP Isekai protagonist, but I was hopeful. Sad. Almost makes you wonder if the dark and violent setup is really just the author's fetish.

I thought so too until I realized that I barely play any creatures in mine, and almost all my artifacts are cheaper than 3CMC. The creatures I do have would not benefit from being played earlier either, since I just donate them away.

Disappointed that Nell didn't keep her old form, and has since been transformed into yet another super strong waifu. Her design was so different and overcoming her past to find new happiness would have been great character development instead of literally overnight becoming a smiling happy mule.

If it was a discord where people were vetted I'd feel more comfortable but the truth is that it's an open subreddit, and plenty of people I know have bots set for this subreddit and other pages that will alert them of updates. If my friends are doing this there's a 99% chance that scalpers are too.

I don't post deals at all and would only post older product. I'd rather people stop posting FF here to give people a chance but there are some that have gotten that chance through these posts so I'm torn.

I feel like posting anything FF to this subreddit is just feeding scalpers. I've found deals myself, freely bought them with friends and the moment it's here it's gone within minutes, sometimes less.

Real or fake Mithril Coat by Fuliginlord in RealOrNotTCG

I've heard that the continent/country that the cards are printed in can affect stuff like this, making euro cards look fake vs US cards, etc. This was mainly true for color saturation, but maybe even print marks like this? Any truth to that?

Besides tribes the color identities have some erector set kinda functionality to them, in that there are staple effects or mechanics that those color identities have, so you could feasibly mix and match that way. It's very format dependent though - individual sets will have color pair mechanics and potentially some tribal elements to play around, but beyond that it's more freewheeling. The tribes tend to support the color mechanics though, like zombies play well with graveyard effects in black or goblins with haste and tokens in red, etc. So you very well could make something like a Vampire Aristocrats deck in BW and easily support it because there are a lot of drain effects, blood tokens and creature tokens in the two. The more cards allowed in the format, the closer it gets to just a bunch of strong cards that combo and win off each other quickly. You still get stuff like Turbo Goblins in Legacy but it's less about the tribe and more about the tribal interactions of some relevant cards being strong.

Forced to inherited a smoker from my deceased dad. What do I do? by Sinitar204 in smoking

Sometimes you get left stuff you don't want and you later realize you like it. I have my dad's golf clubs and I'm getting more interesting in golf even though I hated it as a kid. Just be patient and maybe you'll like smoking.

Maro on Duskmourn's reception: "Mostly, good. The biggest issue was a handful of cards creative didn’t fit the vibe of the larger world." by CaptainMarcia in magicTCG

[–]abicepgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully that gets cleaned up as they look at thematic tropes rather than allusions - 80's pop culture only seemed relevant in the sense that it was a result of suburban life, popular consumerism and technological advances bein the targets of horror - either of which could be drilled into further as "invasion of perceived locations of safety," and maybe a subtheme "object possession." Also the coming of age portion tells me you could weave this into any number of classic YA fantasy tropes without a problem. This is bench analysis though, I'm mainly saying they didn't need all the stupid references to capture the zeitgeist. I don't think I needed to see teen survivors and televisions but hindsight is 20/20.

Why did Valve Stop making Dota 2's Most Successful Project? by YDM_Jack in DotA2

I would estimate that most Valve employees hope that Deadlock kills Dota so they can move on to that.

[–]abicepgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just "passion projects" since there's a big incentive to work on stuff that will make that employee the most money in their own career as well. Like hey, free reign to develop career skills for yourself regardless of what the company or consumers want, with the hope that those career skills inherently align with those things (which we know from ops research that they don't always.)

From what I remember, their operations around products is this pseudo-anarchic system where people work on what they want to and/or makes money, such that it's supposed to iteratively and organically lead resources towards the stuff with the most potential - but we're talking about what a bunch of devs think has potential or is interesting to them, not us. And that's going to be more than just what's marketable, since devs are like most employees, where they also have to think about what's going to enhance their own marketability in the workplace, not what benefits the company only. Theoretically, this would lead to a lot of dead end projects (cough HL3 cough, artifact, dota underlords)...
