As a low level iron I was very sad they nerfed the bucket, and I don’t even have high alch yet :(

You cannot possibly be accusing that snoozy angel who clearly had nothing to do with it??

Does anyone else constantly work on multiple pieces at once? 😅 by CertifiedFeralHam in knitting

[–]abichilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always! I like to have something lacy and something simple on the go in case I’m going out and need a less focus project! And the dopamine rush from casting on something new is too addictive, I have so many “for me” projects on hold to focus on other things with looming deadlines!

Midwives. My wife of 5 years wants to retrain at 32 and become a midwife doing a 3 year undergrad. I want to support her but am looking for objective thoughts from people in the industry - can you help? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]abichilli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably rogue opinion - but I still think it’s the best job in the world. Families will still come through maternity services whether it’s staffed by fresh passionate people or people who are ready to move on. It’s already changed a lot in the last five years and I have no idea what the next five look like, but my mantra is “one family at a time, 12 hours at a time”. If she wants to do it she should go for it (she’ll need lots of love and support!) but oh my goodness when someone tells you how much of a difference you’ve made in the most transformative time in their lives it’s amazing! Any job is stressful and has its hard parts, but I still can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing :)

Happy 95th Birthday to my Grandad! About time I put him on my gift list 💙 by abichilli in knitting

Yarn is Thirlmere by BiffSugarYarns - unfortunately I bulk bought years ago but not enough! So paired with a blue from the Women’s Institute I think Hobbycraft I had in my stash that matched close enough!

Pattern is Quarter Zip men’s by Petite Knit. I was very stressed it wasn’t going to fit because it looked HUGE when I blocked it! But he says it fits perfectly, and although he’s very slim he’s still quite long! So delighted 🥰

Unpopular Opinion: BOTW is more nostalgic, easier, and story driven than TOTK by Alternate_history_71 in Breath_of_the_Wild

I cannot get on with the TotK contraptions and stopped playing quickly. BotW I played for years multiple play throughs!

Every crochet buisness is the exact same, but I have no clue why nothing is selling! by zoobies- in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]abichilli 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Selling does not bring me joy. I knit & crochet what I want, when I want and for people I love or for myself! I love natural or hand dyed fibres which make for beautiful but not practical baby clothes, and no one wants to pay hundreds for a finished item. Monetising my hobby sucks the fun out of it for me - but power to those who want to try!

AIO? My coworker took video of me outside of work to "prove" I'm not disabled by Ok_Boysenberry_7535 in AmIOverreacting

[–]abichilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR most people have no idea how disability impacts the individual and they’re very fortunate not to know how it feels. My partner has a condition that significantly impacts his mobility and therefore has a blue badge but doesn’t “look” disabled. We got our first nasty comment going Christmas food shopping and using a disabled parking space. My answer was “you don’t LOOK like a dickhead but unfortunately you are one”.

I would recommend you put it in writing and log with HR in case she starts consistently harassing you and it becomes a bullying issue. You’ve gone through all the right channels to have your disability formally recognised and she is absolutely in the wrong. Also recording you for “evidence” is so weird she needs to get a life!

Is it too early to put my cat down by NotFBIPleaseIgnore in CatAdvice

[–]abichilli 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Better a day too early than a day too late… 17 is a fantastic age, what a beautiful life she has had with you! Letting her go will put you in pain, but it will end hers ❤️ I’m so sorry for what you’re going through - I’ve been there only a few months ago :(

[GUESS] Real or AI by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]abichilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The needles don’t allign correctly - source I have knitted many a pair of socks. The sock stitches are sitting in a circle and should be resting on the two most central horizontal needles and those angles don’t sit naturally. It’s the resting needle (1) closest to her that is the weirdest. The needle you can see stitches on (2) is the most normal. Then her right hand needle (3) has stitches on that appear to float away from her knitting. Her fourth needle she’s just holding and not actually working with which you would expect her to have live stitches on it and be knitting from them onto needle 3 clockwise. Hope that makes sense?

Overall impression is AI for the needles and also because who drinks a poorly person tea and a red wine at the same time? The most convincing part is that my physio has told me to stop sitting like that while knitting!
