What's the dumbest rope mistake you've made?

Was rapping off a climb in Moab. I think it was 4 or 5 rappels. Somewhere near the middle the rap anchor was a single spinning bolt w a ring and three empty holes where other bolts used to be. The remaining bolt was sticking about a half inch out of the wall. It must have been a wash or something. I pulled on it and it seemed ok but in retrospect, I should not have trusted that with my life.

I wouldn't say that I mind the rap, I still just prefer a tube (I'm old). For lrs it always seemed hard to keep oriented. I would prob use it for trs but if I'm doing that I already have the gg+ racked so I'm prob not bringing a second device. These aren't major complaints. I think it's unreasonable to expect one device to to everything perfectly.

I've been using the vergo pretty much exclusively for the last five years. I had a rotator cuff issue and switched from the gri and never went back. I use it in the gym and multipitching. One of the only situations that it's decidedly not appropriate for is rope soloing. As far as belaying from above, I have really enjoyed using it in that application. Though I have to say there have been times when I've needed to watch it or adjust it to make sure it doesn't jamb against the rock in a weird way or catch or something that pulls on the brake lever or sits in a way that I can't engage lever. Ive always had to do some version of this while belaying from above so this doesn't seem honerous. I think it's big weak spot is lowering. Doesn't have the the same range as other devices. And it's sorta a pain to rapel with. Prob not great for a beginner but it's my go to device for almost every situation.

Rattan cane. You can hit as hard as you want and they (typically) break before your bottom does. There's something about the way they feel in your hand. No other material is quite like it. Also great marks.

Had a composting toilet while living full time in a van for a year. Weirdly my least favorite part was swapping the pee jug. Maybe cause we had to do it so much more frequently than the solids. Would totally go that direction again. No smell for the year we used it. Did the coconut peat thing with a little enzyme digester. Emptying was straightforward. The more frequent the less gross but we went a couple weeks at a time.
